As members of the Group Support Academy program, we know how important community and support can be within 7Cups. That's why on this day of celebrating Irish culture and traditions, we'd like to take a moment to reflect on the power of group support sessions in building a stronger and more supportive 7Cups community.
Have you ever led a group support session on 7Cups? If so, what was your experience like in terms of building a stronger sense of community? Did you find it fulfilling to provide support for others and to help foster a positive and supportive environment within 7Cups?
If you haven't led a group support session yet, the Group Support Academy program is designed to teach members how to do just that. By leading group support sessions, you can help create a stronger and more supportive 7Cups community where individuals can come together to share their experiences and provide support to one another. 🤝
Just like the traditional Irish ceili, where people come together to dance, sing, and socialize, the Group Support Academy is a digital version of the ceili where members can come together to uplift and encourage one another, and to build a stronger and more connected 7Cups community. 💚
So on this St. Patrick's Day, let's celebrate the power of community and support by continuing to lead and participate in group support sessions within 7Cups. Good question
First, would I be able to.
So many times I have (in other areas and places) had been denied.
Next, being how my personality works, I would need to know the boundaries and content path.
Lastly is understanding expectations

Yes, you would be able to host! Anyone is allowed to host. Just certain teams require application while others are open to everyone. I completely understand needing to understand boundaries, expectations, and content before signing up. I'm the same way myself. But in order to answer that, I'll have to ask, what type of session are you generally interested in?
- Open chat - open free flow supportive conversation depending on member and room topic
- Icebreaker - sometimes free flow / scripted (depending on room and your hosting style)
- Pop-up - usually 30 min sessions with script, but can go off script (open to everyone!)
- Sharing Circle - an hour long session with script and structure helping members take turn sharing in session. manage queue and track time. (you can host these after attending 3 sessions and going through training form)
- Guided conversation - sub-community specific guided conversations (these usually require application)

Let's start with a pop-up session that's less overwhelming than hour-long sessions in Sharing Circle. @DonaldDrapper is the current leader of pop-up, and your point of contact if there are any questions regarding how to host. You can also co-host with him when you're starting out if the timing works out. (Pop-up Link) And @Lou73 is the current leader of Sharing Circle. You can find the script, training, and host application here. Just know that you need to attend 3 sessions before you're allowed to host sharing circle, this is to allow you to get a feel of how the sessions work and what's expected of the host. In the past this was not celebrated in Ireland. In current times the government has encouraged it as a way to get tourists.
This is an American holiday that has nothing to do with saints.

Thanks for informing of that. Though I'm curious where I can learn more on this because the following is what I've been able to find: "On March 17, Irish and Irish Americans commemorate the death, as legend has it, of Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, who died on March 17, around 492. But mainly, people today honor Irish heritage and its rich culture and traditions. Cities all over the U.S. celebrate with parades and festivities."

Correct me if I'm wrong. This quote is often used as a blessing or well-wishing. The meaning behind it is that the person receiving the blessing should be able to live their life to the fullest without any constraints or lack.
