Group Support Program: Weekly Progress Report

Hi everyone! I hope you are doing well. Weekly progress reports are a way for trainees to reflect on their progress, and share their ups and downs. It is also an opportunity for you to bond with fellow trainees and for mentors to have greater visibility.

In Group Support Program, we have been using a form-based report, in other programs we have experimented with forum progress reports and have decided to do the same for GSP.

Moving forward, GSP trainees will use this thread to report weekly progress on the program.

You can use these questions to help guide you with your answers but do note these are optional. The important part is that you need to participate in this thread at least once a week.

  1. What progress have you made towards completing your Group Support Program?

  2. What challenges have you faced?

My progress so far:

I've finished everything that needs to be finished in order to graduate.
And I'm very happy with all the work that I've done.

Challenges?

I welcome challenges, so perhaps if any challenges that I had a hard time doing,
is to remember to post here.
But others are easy to overcome and it was wonderful taking this program.

✨💙

@Hope

I am quickly approaching the end of my first week in this program.  I am doing my weekly check in a little early because we are expecting a winter storm and I don’t know how power will be.

1.  This week I completed all 6 of the forum discussions.  I really enjoyed all of them and believe they were beneficial to me as a group leader.  I also completed both listener group chats and member group chats.  And I already had the light chat, tiny chat, and small chat badges.  I have thoroughly enjoyed interacting with both listeners and members in group chat and look forward to more opportunities to interact with both listeners and members.  This week, I also identified what I want to do for my project.  And I hosted one listener check in.

2.  I didn’t really run into any challenges.  I guess if I had to identify one challenge it would be balancing the time I spend in group chat and the time I spend on member chats.  I like both equally and want to spend an equal amount of time on both.

  1. What progress have you made towards completing your Group Support Program?

    I responded to one of the group post questions.

    I attempted to host a listener discussion chat.

  2. What challenges have you faced?

    No one attended my first listener discussion chat so I left after 15 minutes which was frustrating and disappointing.

    The second issue was that my internet went out over the weekend and I couldn't stay connected, so I was unable to do the Teen listener discussion chat.  That was frustrating and disappointing.

@KristenHR

Thank you for hosting the listener discussion today on drug and alcohol addiction.  You did a great job hosting!  There are going to be times when people don’t show up.  Try not to get discouraged!  You are doing awesome!

@Hope and @ASilentObserver

week 2 check in:

I always seem to want to post my check ins on the weekend vs. Mondays for some reason.

My first two weeks went by really quickly.  I am due to submit the two week trial form on Monday and it’s already on my calendar.  In my first two weeks, I have hosted 2 listener check ins and a listener sharing circle.  I have never hosted a listener sharing circle so I experienced something new!  If I have time tomorrow, I may host a pop up listener check in.  I have also completed 43 listener chats and 17 group support chats.  I have also almost completed my short project.  The first two weeks have been fun and exhilarating and I have really enjoyed being more active in the member community room and getting to know some of the members better.

My biggest challenge this week was someone sharing personal things in a listener sharing circle and not knowing the best way to redirect them and not wanting to interrupt their share.
