Gratitude with the absence of comparison

They say;

"Comparison is the thief of joy" and I agree with this statement.

If you keep comparing your situation with that of others in a critical, demeaning way, you are likely to find faults and be unsatisfied with yourself. It is quite like digging your own grave.

Instead of comparing, if we practice gratitude, the outcome would be much jubilant and healthier than the latter.

I encourage everyone to recognize and celebrate the people, objects and circumstances to cultivate gratitude. What/who are you celebrating?

Always look forward to your insightful, and positively impactful threads, Night! Keep shining! ❤

That's a great quote, I like the idea of not comparing, it truly makes things seem worse, because someone somewhere likely will always be doing better than us!

Gratitude on the other hand, is a comforting thing, because hey, if you gotta compare, then it helps to reassure that if someone has it better, than we might be that "someone" for someone else too, so being grateful for what we have is something we should really try to practice!

I'm grateful for life and loved ones, today and everyday! 😊

How about yourself?

@Sunisshiningandsoareyou Well said! It's what I was trying to convey. I'm grateful for family, friends and tea.

@comfortableNight4463 this is really insightful! I agree with you. 💚 I also notice this with myself that whenever I am on Facebook and see how happy my friends are with their new gadgets or travels, I feel like I am not doing enough to be able to experience those things. This is without considering the fact that I am working more than most of them. But yeah, sometimes, we just have different privileges and priorities. We also have different life paces so better not to compare as there is always someone before us and behind us. Somehow, we are all equal this way. 😀

@crang17 Exactly. We are all at different chapters in our life. I stay away from social media for that reason. People only show the good on there and the struggles are hidden bts. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for this reminder! I always compared myself to others in college in regards to grades and it was so detrimental to my mental health and motivation. I almost had to learn to keep myself in my own "bubble" because I needed to keep my focus and I am happy I was able to learn that self-discipline. I am celebrating health, family, friends, being able to work, and Sunday brunch!!

@fruityPond7887 I used to do that as well. But then I reminded myself that everyone has different capabilities and enjoying life and being stress-free is more important to me than stressing over the perfect grades. Sending love!
