༺ The Value of Thankfulness and Respect ༻
Today we will be pondering upon the value of thankfulness and respect. Take a moment to think about the times when you have been helped or guided by someone who genuinely cares. How did you feel when you knew you were being helped? Did you feel grateful for their kindness? Did you learn something new about the significance of their actions? Sometimes, people do things that go unnoticed, but being thankful towards them and being inspired by what they do can benefit you in many ways. According to an article by Harvard, giving thanks can make you effectively happier and optimistic for the day ahead. For example, employees and managers who expressed gratitude towards others, experienced the motivation to strive to work harder to get things done for the day (Harvard, 2011).

We are aware that constantly writing in gratitude journals can make us feel relatively better; after having expressed our thanks towards ourselves and towards others for the good things that have happened. Similarly, being directly thankful towards one another can make both us and the person we are thankful towards, strive to do better. This of course, automatically generates the respect that we have for one another. We start to become inspired. This sort of works like...a chain reaction? Sort of like one good deed or feeling that leads to another.

Thankfulness comes from a sense of knowing that you have been blessed with the kindness and love that someone shares with you. It’s a lovely thing to be thankful because we know that the positivity that we receive comes from good intentions. It shows us that supporting each other strengthens us. Doing good is rewarding; being thankful for all the things that you receive is good for the soul as it acknowledges these things.

There are people around us and in our lives that teach us valuable skills and lessons that we can take with us. These people teach us to be stronger and ready to face the uncertainty of life. Such people can be famous celebrities, your family relatives, your friends, historical figures or the family that lives down the street, barely getting by but still holding on strong. Isn’t it amazing how each and every one of us have probably experienced something good as a result of...learning from someone? This sort of thankfulness leads us to having respect for such people.

Daisy, so good to see you here and I was so excited to read this article through. Thank you for making this forum post, I kinda wrote a long response smh. I loved reading this.
I love the topic so much! When someone helped me out, I felt really great and it always feels like suddenly the thing that I needed help with feels so much easier after sharing it with someone. I always feel gratitude towards people who help me out and I make it a point to express it to them.
I always knew this at the back of my mind but I like how you manifested this into words. When we show gratitude towards someone we are indeed doing so because we respect that person. And it creates a chain reaction because people feel inspired to make others happy and show their gratitude too. I like how sometimes my friends and I keep expressing our gratitude on loop, it warms my heart so much!
The positivity that comes with good intentions is the best! I like how just thanking someone and acknowledging their efforts can brighten up someone's mood so much. It's seriously one of the best things out there and it never takes too much out of us to just appreciate what someone is doing or how they are. People who you admire or look up to is really because you respect them. It often isn't as obvious but we only admire something that we respect, something or someone that we truly value. And learning from people that we respect is something that I call, a quality learning experience. However, learning something from someone for the first time could lead you to respect them, so it's really not something that is supposed to be of some order.
▹ Question 1: What’s one recent encounter you have had, that has led you to being thankful?
I am really thankful to @Starmedia for being such a great leader and for always making me comfortable with the role I took up for the P&G Community. Never for once, have I felt some kind of pressure regarding anything and it's really a huge thanks to Star. Thank you for listening to me, comforting me and guiding me. There is no one else who can do that as good as you and I appreciate you so so so so so much! You are seriously the best leader (of all of cups) in my eyes.
▹ Question 2: Who is someone in your life that you look up to and respect, for the good things they have taught you?
I look up to and respect my dad's friend. One fine day he came to our home and really... said that he came there for me and he listened to me, about my worries about college, not knowing what to do, feeling stressed about school and he never for once started with the story "how are you stressed? in our times..." He seriously just heard me out, said how much everyone in my life believes in me. He also complimented on various art things that I do, appreciated the way I am around people, how I carry myself so well. He taught me to be open to new experiences and to trust in my abilities. He taught me that nothing that I want to achieve is too far away as long as I work for it (which I really do). Nobody really knows this much but he has had the most positive influence on me regarding my family. I used to be so angry at my family a while back but he really helped me process my way through it and made me realize the importance of family and how sometimes when we're blinded by other emotions, we may overlook what our loved ones do for us. I really respect him and I plan on telling him this the next time I meet him.
