I have taken my 1st 7 steps in several days! I like these baby steps 😃
I have learned that everyone had insecurities, so I am not alone
Step 240. I am a nail biter since I was a kid. Now when I look at them I am proud how long they are getting :) I learned to love myself, to take care of myself and listen to what I want :) stay calm and enjoy the moment.
@SweetMango that is amazing! I am a biter myself...well done you deserve to feel proud ♥
@Nagisa thank you :) hang in there!
I've learned that 5 minutes of meditation really does wonders for anxiety.
@Chevysaunders I'm glad it is helping!
Change doesn't happen over night, accepting the process is part of the journey.
I accept myself and love myself <3
I've learned to be more mindful of my body and surroundings.
That even though im in a relationship, i should take care of myself, even when my significan other makes me feel aquward.
@GlenM The biggest thing I've learned so far is that stress is healthy and my mental illness isn't always the cause of my problems.
I saw this on the forum somewhere posted by yogotthisdontfret and its one of the posts that inspired me the most:
Depression is a chemical imbalance. When someone has depression, their brain literally does not produce enough happiness chemicals.
Diabeties is a chemical imbalance. When someone has diabeties, their body literally does not produce enough incilin.
When someone with diabeties has to take medication or watch their behaviours (eating habits, etc) it's not a weakness, it's simply just upkeeping. They'll say "I'll never be rid of diabeties" and that's true. It's a part of who they are. It doesn't have to be the thing that ends you, it's just something that you learn to live with.
I see depression the exact same way. It's not a weakness, it's simply a part of you that requires upkeeping. Our bodies may never be rid of this, we may forever underproduce happiness chemicals; but it's part of who we are and it's not a weakness. It doesn't have to be thing that ends you, it's just something we learn to live with.
Find the right habits to help you. Just like someone with diabeties would need to work out and eat right and monitor incilin levels, people with depression need to work out, eat right, and monitor happiness levels for the brain.
@schatzi
So very true!
If only more people recognised this, the unwarranted stigma of depression, or any other mental health condition, could be eradicated.
Thanks so much for this insightful post :)
