I'm just starting out on this site, but I have learned that showing gratitude helps me feel a lot better. I tend to focus too much on negativity, and this encourages me to look at the positive things going on in my life.

July 5th, 2016

@ClosingtheDistance

I agree; there is no point in dwelling excessively on negative events, issues, and situations which just bring you down. In my opinion, it's wasted energy which could better be directed towards other things, things which make you happy, enlighten and uplift you, and are involved in a sense of positive energy. Gratitude about the positive things in one's life, I think goes a long way in helping to improve one's outlook.

How much it pays to practice consiousness.

@aamigoni

Mindfulness is such an important thing! By focusing on the present moment, and the tasks at hand, I believe one will enjoy life more, because they will be fully immersed and attuned to what's going on in front of them.

@forgottenzaira101

Congrats! Small victories are so great. I think that you hit the nail on the head, in terms of trying to make yourself happy. I think that making oneself happy is definitely in one's own hands. Good for you.

Step 160: It's okay to not know how you feel. Feelings change!

@GlenM Sometimes things don't always turn out the way you want them to be. But that doesn't mean that it was all for nothing. Every bad experience teaches us and helps us grow. Every good experience lifts us up and makes us happy. We need both to survive.

What I have learned is that today's government officials care more about what terrorist are doing than spending time figuring out ways of helping their own people. They care more about a suicide bomber than they do for someone who fought for his countries freedom. There are men and women living on the streets that have stood behind a gun for this country and yet no one ( government) bats an eye. Very very sad society we live in today and unfortunately 1 or 1 million voices are not going to be enough to change anything.

Milestone 2540: I love that my growth path section right now is called "Achieving Goals," because I am feeling postive and empowered that many of my goals *will* be achieved as I proceed through these next days, weeks, and months. Positive mindset for the win!
