Step 210 - Things don't always go your way, but you can still make stuff better for yourself

Heya, level 60 now... I'd just like to point out the possibly underrrated concept of simply recognizing a negative or destructive thought when it comes to you. You cannot simply become happy, no matter what meds you may take. The only way to solve a problem is to stand back, take a deep breath, amd simply recognize and become aware of what you are thinling and how it makes you feel, or what you are feeling and how it makes you think. Never give up, anyone can change. Don't wait for the motivation, it's always the right time.

When I was struggling with a contractor not paying invoices timely a few months ago, I was stressing incredibly. We were not at risk of losing our home, or power turned off, but the stress of no money gave me a sense of loss of control.

I still sense a loss of control daily, even with money more predictable. This is my problem, and I have the tools to understand it. I think it will be my teacher for a while. I wonder what I will be experiencing after a while with this as my world? Right now I see no winning, but there is a resolute commitment to not letting something change my perception of a pretty happy life.

Step 788

I am learning that if I can say in the morning "I am going to have a great day regardless of conditions." I can choose to make that so by being very mindful of my own thoughts and emotions, and by choosing to control and steer my thoughts and emotions consciously.

step 50. I know I will have ups and downs but that's okay so long as I keep looking forward, everything will be alright

Step 50. I've learned a lot of things from being mindful to myself and things that are happening around me to breathing exercises that help me calm down when everything seems a bit overwhelming. One thing that helped me out so much is keeping positive. I keep positive by trying to let things go. Even if I don't complete let it go the first time. I keep trying because I know I will eventually let it go. Another way I keep positive is by keeping myself busy. Doing things like help improve my overall self. So, the bad and harmful thoughts don't come to mind. Thank you, 7 cups and everyone else that is part of this community.

Being aware and understanding the reason behind a certain behavior is big a step. It's much harder, however, to change it and to choose a different path over and over again until doing so becomes second nature.
