@GlenM how to be more positive
@GlenM how to be more positive
I used to think all the 'self love' stuff was a bunch of baloney, but I'm so glad I decided to start practicing loving myself, and stop criticizing myself. I didn't think I could function without self criticism, it's how I've kept myself on track all my life. Functioning is so much easier when you actively like yourself just for being you, it's not self indulgent or "entitled." It's so much easier, even in depression, to get up and make sure your needs get met when you come from a place genuine, gentle self care. I always pictured dire consequences if I "liked myself," like I would let myself "get away" with being lazy, not meeting goals, not being up to some societal standard, but it's just the opposite. When I don't feel like doing something I know would be good for me it's much easier to coax myself into doing it now because I know that I have my best interest at heart and I trust myself. It's a tough thing to do, to love yourself unconditionally, and accept all parts of yourself, but so necessary.
Hi Everyone! My name is Haley and I'm a therapist here on 7 cups. Everyday this week I'm going to be posting my favorite affirmations for self-improvement on my wall so I wanted to encourage you to follow me as I guide you towards using the power of positive thinking to make changes in your life! This is going to be a ton of fun
I'm getting better each day
To calm down and be wiser.
Step 140. I've learned that I don't want to take this journey alone but I can't let that stop me on my way to happiness.
Seeing a smile on your face brings one to mine.
@njgio, I love this. You definitely brought a smile to my face! ❤️
Learning to understand and cope with insecure attachment issues. No more obsessions or fixations on other people! #fightingBPD
Step 50: I learned that there's hope out there, and I just need to reach out to people. Nothing is impossible if you know how to deal with it
Step 200. I'm just sitting in my vehicle avoiding going back to work. I am slipping a little bit right now into a place of concern. I dont necessarily want to be here, but I can't seem to get myself out of here. I feel like I have flattened out. I am emotionally fragile. I feel like I am held together by the weakest of tape and could fall apart at any second. I am discouraged at my mindset and feel a level of discontent similar to when I started this process.
The difference right now is that I also have a level of awareness that I will begin to pop out of this feeling because I know I have the tools and willingness to apply them. It is far from good for me right now, but I can use the resources and continue to dedicate myself to finding spots, corners, small areas of happiness. Eventually I hope find a nice small room and then maybe a larger one. Right now, I just need a corner, a small little nook that is just mine that allows me the comfort and satisfaction of being me.
Small, tiny victories mean so much when you are discouraged. The losses can pile up and feel so heavy. Just a small win is sometimes all that is needed to put the mind at ease. If only for a moment. Trying, I'm trying.

Hi important person. Breathe. Plan something great for yourself after making through this day or this week. I like to plan a funny movie or go to a new restaurant.
I can't imagine how you feel right now. I only know that you're special and important. We've learned to get hugs when we need them and to get help when we need to as well.
How about a chat at 7 cups now? I know that our community is open 24/7 and someone is here to connect with you.
All the best to you......
