I am learning to keep calm.
I am learning to control my emotions.
I recently hit the bottom, I had the worst days of my life after ten months of heavy depression. Suicide felt like the best option so many times I stopped counting them. But finally things changed.
I want to share something that a friend told me:
Ask yourself: what is happiness? What does it mean to me? Who is a happy person? Is it someone with money? Someone with a lot of friends? Is it just somone who doesn't cry all the time? Stop thinking about what you have now and how you can improve it. You don't want improvement, you want happiness. It may have nothing to do with what you have right now, improved or not.
The goal is finding what happiness means to you, only when you know where you're going you can start moving towards it. It may be something you can achieve fast, it may took sometimes, but at least you know you're moving in the right direction.
I guess I found the answer. We all have the answer, sometimes it's just hard to admit it. It's scary because it may mean that you'll have to throw everything away and start from scratch, it makes you think that you wasted so much time and you're not ready to erase everything you did in the last months or years, maybe you'll have to leave some people behind, to make sacrifices.
But think about it: do you really want to live like this forever? For how long will you be able to feel this way?
It's your life, if you have the chance to change it, then do it. Be brave.
I left everything behind, really everything. And I regret nothing about it. I'm finally ready to live now.
@BlackWater
That was a very touching story. Thank you so much for sharing it with us. And your friend was absolutely right about finding what happiness means to you and working from there. Keep up the amazing work! ^-^
I've learned that worrying does not predict the future. Worrying and overthinking creates scenarios in your brain which may not even happen. How many times have we overthought something and it actually happened?
@CanadianOtter
You're totally right about that one! Keep up the great work! ^-^
I've learned that even the seemingly smallest of accomplishments can deserve a pat on the back. And that just worrying won't solve a thing. Also to take a moment to relax and smell the roses.
@SillyBlue32
I'm glad to hear that! Keep up the great work! You can do it! :D
I am at step 10. I learned that I can only be mindful if I practice every day even for a short amount of time.
@redrose2020
That's great to hear! You can do it, we're rooting for you! :3
