I was challenged by a thread in the LGBTQ+ community about being open to someone in your faith community.
So I wrote to a college friend I've known for a long time who has been in ministry, in the spirit of cutting through the bullshit and being authentic, which I told her I think based on her and my previous conversations I felt like she would understand and be the most open minded to grasp what I was saying without any kind of knee jerk reaction.
I've come to understand that I'm not my emotions or intrusive thoughts. I just gently acknowledge them, and it makes it easier to let them go and focus on the present.

Realizing that you are separate from your emotions and thoughts experienced, and learning to live in the present moment, are some wonderful steps to have taken! Congrats!
hi im new here and what i learned was that you should treat yourself the same way you treat your friends
@depressedcreature
Realizing that you should treat yourself well, as you would your friends, is a wonderful lesson to have learned! Congrats!
I just calmed myself down from a panic attack, and i am learning how to better manage my time, my life and myself, and love other people
I've learning that everything happens for a reason and positive thnking goes a long way..
It helps to kniow that my feelings are recognised and I am not alone
I've learned to focus my energy on working on myself and my goals.
Hello everybody! First time I post on the thread. Just want to let you know that my therapist is so incredibly awesome. She is laser sharp focused and so kind. I have learned to look at the different consequences of different courses of action.
Learning that there are others who care and want to help.
I have learned that "One Day at a Time" is more than just a cheezy sitcom, it really is a motto to live by! I get so overwhelmed when I look at how much I have to do that week, that month, coming events like Christmas that I have to prepare for let alone errands and day-to-day chores that if I think of all of that I just get so depressed or stressed that I just want to give up and do nothing! But if I can just focus on that day - what I want to get done today, say - and not look beyond that (or behind, to what I failed to do yesterday, say), it is so much easier. That is basically mindfulness!
