I've realized that I should invest my energy to myself and not other people. I can't control my emotional reactions when it comes to other people, but I can shift my focus inwards. This results in me not caring and that makes me less vulnerable to getting hurt.

@piscesmoon1040

But we CAN control--or at least Change--our emotional reactions. When we hunt down the underlying thoughts, we can work to change those thoughts. The better thoughts make our emotions have less grip over our feelings, and when our emotions change our behavior will change. Somewhere over the rainbow is a place where we are in charge of developing our own thought patterns and we are in charge of the intensity of our emotions and reactions.

This is what Cognitive Behavior Therapy is. And this message is brought to you by Bipolar 2 and Adult ADHD!

I learned that I have to love myself and to give some time for myself every day.

I learned to set my intentions and let the universe handle the rest. It felt good to just let go of the illusion of control. I feel so much lighter in spirit as well.

I wish I could tell you how I did it. I wish there was some thought, spoken word, or physical movement I could tell you I performed that allowed me to free myself. All I can suggest is that you let time take time. Its been 3 years since I was betrayed and Im just now letting go of all of the painful emotions that I thought I could control through keeping them suppressed and locked away. Being kind to myself allowed me to accept that the end of an 18y marriage was not my fault, realize that I am worthy of receiving the same truly unconditional love that I give others, and let go of a lot of humiliation, embarrassment, hurt, anger, and grief I carried due to that betrayal. Its like my brain just did a reboot and all the negativity just began to evanesce. I just let go. There was nothing easy or simple about it, but it has happened.

Be kind to yourselves. Youre doing the best you can with the tools you currently have in your toolbox. Before you know it, new tools will begin to replace them, followed by an upgraded new toolbox roomy enough to hold them all. Youll be building bigger and much more fortified bridges than you ever thought possible. My hope is that as each of your new milestones are reached a continual sense of peaceful healing washes over you, releasing you from the bonds of negative ruminations, and restoring in each of you a peaceful mind, vibrant body, and entirely rejuvenated spirit😊

Ive learned that Im Lieing to myself saying Im getting better i came here with a minor self harm issue and depression without suisidal intentions. I in the last week have not had a single day Ive not self harmed. My depression is preventing me going places and Ive been close to ending it all. Im struggling to function.

Ive learned I cant do this alone and I need proper help. I just havent worked out how to get it yet. This place helps a little but Im still spiralling down.
