Emotional Healing: Check-In with your emotions
"Emotional access to the truth is the indispensable precondition of healing."
Alice Miller
Emotional healing occurs when we resolve the attachment and release certain feelings we may link with specific events and circumstances. It is when we work towards removing emotional blockages and allow ourselves to grow emotionally through what happens to us. Healing is defined as the process in which a bad situation or painful emotion ends or improves. In that case, when we speak of emotional healing, we mean finding relief from the painful emotions we may have.
It does seem like a daunting task to sit down and really think about how your past may have left you with some unresolved feelings. It may even seem difficult to go through all of them alone. Our emotions can be very intense and we can have a hard time accepting things just because they seem to be complex in themselves. There are layers to emotions and more often than not, there are likely 2-3 emotions at work at the same time - does seem draining, right? The cure to any healing of any kind is starting it from within. To do something to overcome the disconnection in understanding, accepting, and connecting with your true inner self. This connecting with your true self can take time, and it will be one of those long (perhaps never-ending) paths that you take in life, where you keep learning more. Once you feel the calm, love, and care within - the physical manifestations of success, happiness, abundance, and transformation all fall into place.
Some tips for Emotional Healing include :-
1. Love and be loved. Individuality is important for each one of us to truly get to know who we are which may mean at times that we need to be alone, self-reflect, and discover what we personally like to do. But a great need of humans is the need to relate to others and connect. To find a good balance between both does become essential and helps us to understand other people's feelings and to include them in our story.
2. Make past your friend, or at least don't make it your enemy. Whether we admit it or not, our past has the biggest role in shaping who we are today. It's through the series of breaking and rebirth that we get to become the person who is at present and it will again change in the future. Our past is not a life sentence. The feelings that you may have attached to it, are all valid but for emotional healing, you have to slowly detach yourself from just one narrative of it.
3. Mood is temporary, create meaning for yourself. A lot of times we may let our moods at present dictate what we want to be doing. Sometimes, we do need to slow down and just let ourselves feel our feelings but if we always give ourselves the pass for feeling the way we do, we might never be able to do the things we really want to be doing. Listen to your intention and let them triumph despite your mood on that particular day or in that particular moment.
4. Do discomfort drills. This is something my therapist told me about. Basically, each week/day, you challenge yourself to do something that brings you discomfort (by choice, and please only do the thing which you know will lead to your growth) and do it despite the discomfort it may bring for you. It isn't to trouble you, it is to increase your endurance level and also to pull through some things which may hinder your growth. It could be as simple as, making it a point to make your bed as soon as you wake up.

You can't give your life more time, so give the time you have, more life.
Hiyaaa @lueurspace , another amazing post , woohoo !! I really love how you create such insightful and beautiful write - ups on topics that are intricate to us ! Thanks , lu , you're doing awesome❤
Emotional healing is difficult almost seemingly impossible but so very important, if we don't heal from certain things they will in one way or another always manage to pull us down.
the tips you've lined to help in emotional healing are spot on , I specially liked the one about " listening to your intention, rather than the mood " --- it is so challenging to make way for something when not feeling the " mood" , but even in that moment it is necessart we don't forget what is more important and goood for us eventually --- some of these actions might be categorized as -- "discomfort drills" , but again, these do help us challenge ourselves in small ways that is great for us and thus super okay !
Something that I'd like to share about emotional healing is that, like any other healing , emotional healing isn't a one day job either, it's a process , with lots of ups and downs and they are bound to be a part of this journey , it certainly ain't going to be linear , but what might help will be a reassurance that , you have faith in yourself, and you started this journey, while it's hard to pass through , it is something worth all the downs , because towards reaching to closer to the other end , you'll find this amazing person who once believed in themselves that they could ...and now they are here, in a more happier, healthier and better emotional space . ❤
🤗 Happy Healing , loveliees 🤗
Ps - that's another set of wonderfully thought provoking questions, thankyou ! Compiling all of these hehe ☺
@Sunisshiningandsoareyou
Thank you so much for reading it, Sunnie!
I am so happy to know you like what I write and find to be insightful and beautiful!
I agree with you, it is indeed very hard and the toughest part about it is there is no way around other than through, which can be extremely hard for all of us.
I am glad you like the tips that I mentioned! And hey, that's my favourite one too hehe, I believe it is the most important one because for a lot of us our moods tend to dictate what we want to be doing. It takes time to get to the point where we start having most of it under control but once it does, it is really good and our lives may start feeling alright!
Thank you for sharing that information about emotional healing, I agree it is not easy and certainly one of the hardest things any of us may have to do. But it is not linear and cannot be completed in just one day, we have to keep going and learning new information along the way! It doesn't invalidate any day's progress, it all accumulates and leads to great results. Aw, that is so sweet, I love that you shared with us today!
Happy healing to you too, you are awesome! *hugs*
(and hehe, I hope you like all of these questions!)

You can't give your life more time, so give the time you have, more life.
@lueurspace yaaay haha! Thanks to you! ❤️❤️
Hi lueruspace
Take care lueruspace, and thanks again for being you and all you do here, I bet you do much more in your own life as well. Kind hugs.
What is the most loving and supportive thing I can do for myself right now? It is hard to think in terms of myself and not others, but, I will do my best. I guess, for me, the best I can do for now is to show how much I truly love, care, and am concerned about some other people. It breaks my heart so much for what they are going through--some very serious things. So, I belive for me, I need to be able to cry for them in peace, away from them, not allowing it to upset them, and be more energized and ready to keep being understanding, helpful and caring for them. I just need to keep my positive attitude up for them. That will help keep my happy that I am doing all I can for them.
Is there a boundary I can communicate as a way to respect my own needs? Yes, and I have had to do this, even very recently. I had to give a very firm, repeated boundary to a friend I have been trying to be there for, supporting emotionally and knowledge wise for 24 years. It hurts that I have had to do this, but, I had to do so for my own sanity. I know I have tried and tried, endlessly. But, I belive I do need to give them sometime to learn to do without me, more on their own and find more ways of coping, and learn to rely on others they have in their life that are right there--who are also trying to help them in so many ways. It is just time that they learn to listen more and I know I have done all I can and have given it the best I can.
When I listen to my body, what does it need? A deep breath? Movement? Nourishment? Rest? My body does need all the things you mentioned and I have been working, getting back to doing these things, as I know how important they truly are. The biggest one of these the last 5 years seems to be sleep, as I have been dealing with not sleeping for 4 - 5 days and nights in a row, and then getting about 2 hours sleep. It has finally begun to catch up with me much more now. But, I agree with you that all you mentioned are all very important for all of us to incorporate.
What am I holding onto? And would it benefit me to let it go? I am and have always held onto a whole lot. Noone on earth knows of it all and it is so much that I do not believe that anyone could even ever truly understand it all and grasp that it is all so real. So, I just keep it in. I know what it feels like to have gone through so much and I use this to try to help others. It is not necessary that they know about me, but, it is good and helpful for me to be there for them.
I imagine it would be of great benefit if I could let go of it all. I do not know how that would even feel though. There is just so much and so very many years of things. Even at rare times when I have chosen to mention even a couple of things, it shocks some people so much and I know they do not have the ability to understand even the basic, little, simple things. How would I ever dare to even say anymore?
Are there any repetitive thoughts that I’ve been attached to that are no longer serving me? Can I give myself permission to let these go? Yes, and there are reasons for me having these thoughts. No, they are not related to a mental health diagnosis that involves repetitive thoughts. Lots of my somewhat repetitive thoughts serve to protect me from harm. I have worked on replacing the non-productive repetitive thoughts that I was also using for self-protection.
What can I forgive myself for? and offer forgiveness to? I still have great difficultiy forgiving myself for so much, even after knowing that I did not do wrong or behave wrong. It is still an ongoing problem for me, as this inablitiy to not be able to forgive myself for even things to do come up when I am not wrong about them, still seems to continue with me. I have never had a problem forgiving others one bit. I choose to not hang on to that one bit, no matter what they did to me. I also feel that it is wrong to judge others in general.
What’s taking up most of your headspace right now? It bounces back from mostly trying to focus on others, be there for them in tons of ways, be helpful for them in all ways I can and things of that nature. Then, on the other side of it all, is me trying to deal wth so much that it almost gets unbearable, and I do not want others to know of this. But, I am saying it here, but, know that it will probably not be read, so, that is just fine.
What was your last full meal, and have you been drinking enough water? Breakfast. Luckily, he loves to cook our breakfast and does a fantastic job and I so much appreciate all he does and the man he has grown into now. No, I do need to be drinking more water.

Question. What are some things you have learned about emotional healing that you wish you knew earlier? Wow, earlier includes tons of years for me. But, I wish I would have know it was okay to be able to speak of a lot of the things that went on for decades. That may have been helpful. Also, even knowing that it is ok to be able to express how you do feel and not have to deal with some of the very bad consequences that I did when I did used to try. I still know I have lots more to learn, for sure!!!!
@Amelia2324
Hi there, Amelia!
Thank you so much for wishing me well, things have been alright for me, yes! I hope things have been great at your end too. Aw, there is nothing to apologize for, at all, Amelia! I am happy to make these posts and no matter when you get back to them, I appreciate it very much, just the same! I love to read yours and everyone else's answers, Amelia. To know someone wanted to leave a long response trying to cover everything, truly makes me happy! It was a pleasure to write this for you all and I really appreciate your kind words for me, thank you so much!
I really like how empathetic you are, Amelia. It truly inspires me so much! I can understand the need to retreat and feel other people's emotions in the company of our own so that we don't make them upset and ask them to take care of us emotionally when it's them needing more of it. You sound like such a caring person and it was very sweet of you to keep supporting your friend for so long - it all adds up, and sometimes it is needed to create some boundaries before the other person gets dependent on us as their sole support.
We oftentimes overlook our physical needs if we start taking care of our emotional ones, but the body and mind are connected, so it was a good opportunity to include that question for the check-in as well. It seems you have been struggling with sleep for a very long time and I hear how much it can affect our life. I hope you are able to catch on to some good sleep, some good amount consistently instead of how it has been for you, for a while now. I can also understand and relate with the feeling of others not truly getting the intensity of the things that go inside our head at times, it is very hard for sure to keep it all in, but I do hope whatever it is that you are holding on to, if it is not serving you, you are able to let it go. You deserve to let some things go
I am glad you have worked on replacing the repetitive thoughts that were not really serving you! Other than that, I am so happy that the thoughts are there to protect you, sometimes we may judge some thoughts/emotions too harshly, not knowing they were sent to help us out. I can see that a lot of what you do or choose to do is directed outwardly. I hope one day you can realize how strong you are to have come such a long way, and how you, much like everyone else deserve your own forgiveness. Baby steps, I know how hard it is.
I can understand that you have your own struggles and things that are keeping you busy, making you overwhelmed and taking up too much of your headspace. It truly must be so hard to have it all inside but not being able to share, since it feels that most people would not understand, I have felt like that so much times but almost always, I have felt really better sharing things with people. You can take your time though, and do things that suit you the best! I am glad you have been eating enough and keeping yourself hydrated, that's awesome!
We always have something more to learn, so glad you realize that! In addition to that, I love what you would have liked to know earlier. Speaking up is so important and sometimes we underestimate how much power our words can have on other things and people. I hope you know of it now and are able to speak much more often and able to voice your concerns
Thank you so much for your lovely response, Amelia! I am wishing you a great day/night ahead!
The point is, people improve when they get external love and support. How can we hold it against them when they don't?
thank you very much leurspace. all of your kind, understanding words touched me greatly. Much loe to you.
