How to stop overthinking
I overthink a lot and my boyfriend is starting to get tired of it. I start arguments because of the overthinking and it hurts the both of us. pls help.
@intellectualFriend6525 I am so sorry that your overthinking is causing problems in your relationship. Have you tried to figure out the source causing it? Could it be depression? Anxiety? Really take thought into it because because if the source root of the problem is worked on it will cut down on the arguments. Just trying to help here. You could also try happy activities. 😊 Try thinking positive. If you have a negative thought, put it out your mind or at least try and distract yourself from it. Maybe try journaling and writing your thoughts and feelings down. Whatever it is you decide, I truly hope you are able to find some peace do your brain can get some rest. You are not alone. Good luck. ❤️

@intellectualFriend6525. I have the same problem, that advice given I think can definitely help.
Sometimes when trying to quiet my mind, I will bring to mind something Eckhart Tolle once offered. Say to yourself, "I wonder what my next thought will be."
Try it. Sometimes it stuns the mind into quieting down, at least for a little while. See if it helps you. :)

It sounds like you are struggling with a common problem that many people face, which is the tendency to overthink things and let our thoughts spiral out of control. This can lead to arguments and cause stress and conflict in relationships. Here are a few strategies that might help you manage your overthinking:
- Practice mindfulness: try to stay present in the moment and not get carried away by your thoughts. This can help you become more aware of when you are starting to overthink and give you the opportunity to choose a different, more productive way of thinking.
- Set aside specific times to think: rather than letting your thoughts run wild all the time, set aside specific times of day when you can allow yourself to think and worry. This can help you compartmentalize your thinking and prevent it from spilling into other areas of your life.
- Get some exercise: physical activity can be a great way to relieve stress and clear your mind. Exercise can also help you feel more confident and in control, which can make it easier to manage your thoughts.
- Talk to someone: sometimes it can be helpful to talk about your thoughts and concerns with someone you trust, like a friend or a therapist. This can help you gain perspective and find ways to manage your overthinking.
I hope these suggestions are helpful. Remember, it's okay to have negative or worrying thoughts from time to time, but it's important to find healthy ways to manage them so they don't take over your life.
@corey561 #4 can be a lifesaver. Talking helps me see things more clearly and rationally. Just hearing my overthinking said out loud brings me back to earth a lot of the time.

Hey friend,
In a very similar boat here. Combine that with learning to have better self-esteem and continuing to get rid of feat of abandonment and you get my life!
Let me know if you would like a helping hand and I can give you my listener account and we can help each other out.
Glad I can make a new friend, Friend!
@intuitiveEast6300 I have the same issues and that fear of abandonment is the root to all my evil. 😞

@intellectualFriend6525 I feel ya big time. My heart definitely goes out to you.
I actually accuse my guy of stuff I got from overthinking. Mine's so bad I never know anymore if what I believe is from overthinking or truth.
I HATE IT!!!!

i just want you to know YOU ARE NOT ALONE!! i suffer from overthinking too. i took on journaling and making sure i got all my emotions out on paper, sometimes when i’m really feeling bad, i’ll burn the paper. find something to do that can ease your mind. make a list of the things you overthink about durning the day, write what you believe the root cause is and ways you can help stop the overthinking. i believe in you and you are not alone! sending so much love ❤️
@intellectualFriend6525 My thoughts are maybe it's how you're coming across is what is starting the arguments and if you're fully paying attention to what you're boyfriend is saying when he answers which is causing him to feel annoyed. I've been guilty of overthinking and then just writing out my thoughts as they are which isn't always the best idea because to us they may not seem aggressive, but they could very much be to other. SO what I suggest is if you're ever feeling a LOT at once, try approaching your bf in a way that's more hey I have alot on my mind can you help me sort me it out? approaching it from a place of I appreciate your help and would like to talk to you about things in a non threatening way will make it easier for him to want to hear you out if that makes sense. Make him feel like he's not going to be yelled at or that your just here to argue. otherwise he will always be on defense and annoyed because anytime you want to talk its always aggressive. Hope this helps :]
I have alot of mental health issues that lead me to automatic thoughts when i zone or if i m bored...then i feel bad if i act bad because the emotional response. Distraction redirection of ANY kind seems to help. Acknowledging you have them is great. Make sure to tell those you love they matter and you appreciate them. We tend to lash out at the people who are there. Maybe your boyfriend was just the one in the room. I know you will get past this. Sending warm fuzzies and hugs galore 😉
