Things Teens Wish You Knew
If this is part of your life story, please share your insights! What would you like the rest of us to learn? What should we know about people in this community? How would you like people to interact with you? Should people ask questions? What’s the best way for people to learn about this? Do you have any resources (books, movies, YT videos, etc) that will give us greater understanding and empathy and kindness toward people who experience the same things you do?
If you’re not on this journey, please share insights you’ve learned while interacting with those who are, whether family, friends, or anyone else. Share things you’ve read, and ask if they’re true. Share beliefs that you have, ask questions, and more! This is a safe space where you can learn about things you’ve never experienced. <3
Let’s have a gentle, fun, friendly conversation among friends! As a song in one of the Land Before Time movies says, “It takes all sorts to make a world!” <3

That we take words from oldies seriously and overthink stuff a lot at times, even if we sound comfortable and chill while talking.
We're willing to change but we need someone to understand us and see where we're coming from without judgement.
We're most of the time trying to "fit in" and feel insecure abt a lot of things, and how we come across to others.
We want to be taken seriously, to be respected but we don't always like to be talked as equal...and would appreciate if someone is understanding of which stage of life we're in, and don't be too harsh towards us if we make a mistake.
We don't always want to be seen as a 'potential', we don't like when someone only interacts with us based on what we can givep/provide later on... We want to be seen as a human too, without expectations.
Transition from teen to an adult feels really overwhelming, when we think of it, it feels like complete identity shift.. even tho it takes time in reality, we still overthink abt life on late teens/ adulthood a lot.
We're insecure about coming off as too childesh and reuining our image and stuff a lot of times :( and sometimes consciously try to sound grown up, it feels a bit foreign to us, but we try.
We want privacy and understanding by family and friends for deeply personal things, and when it's not respected and joked about we feel hurt.
We're very sensitive even if we sound serious and rough from outside and we tend to be easily influenced by our surrounding/environment.
We're still figuring things out.
TIL that you’re a teen… I could have sworn you were an adult!
@jesusredeemedme2425 lol 🤗

That tv shows potrayals of us are not accurate, that we may relate to each other because of similarities in age but we're still different people going thru different things maturing at different rate.
That we're children very rapidly having responsibilities thrown at us while at the same time learning with clarity of the bad in the world, and dealing with all that is a lot of pressure
That we can also have health issues and us being energetic 24/7 cause of our youth is....not possible?
That we're not naive or ignorant, and that despite our lack of experience we're not stupid and we have ideas, thoughts and concerns that are as important as any one elses
