Try to find that silver lining in everything

Let me present an example of finding the silver lining in a problem, currently I am dealing with a tire issue. The tire keeps going flat as it's only patched right now, even so there's a silver lining in all of this and that would be the fact that at least I have a car. Sadly there are many people all over the world that don't even have access to transportation, so when I put things into perspective like that it helps me to see that my problem isn't that big after-all.
Instead of counting our problems, we could instead be counting our blessings.
What is something that you are dealing with right now that you can find the silver lining in?
@L1ly0ftheValley Hi Lily! Thank you for sharing this! Trying to find the silver lining in tough situations is a really good skill to have. :) I think one thing that I am dealing with is some stress at work. I work with children and they switched my classroom, so that was something that made me a little upset. I think the silver lining is that I don't have to deal with my previous client who was super stressful and I can take it a little easier at work!
@fruityPond7887 - I am sorry that you are dealing with stress in your work, that sounds rough... but I am at the same time proud of you for finding that silver lining in all of that. Thank you for sharing this, it will help to inspire others. :)
Issue:
I don't even know. Maybe the issue is that the life I'm trying to build for myself has little or no foundation and is therefore being torn down by the slightest gust of challenge? 🍀 Or perhaps I'm just not skilled enough yet to build it...and don't really believe it
Silver Lining:
🤷♀️ Maybe realizing that I need to be more intentional, present and mindful in everything I do and less like a vacuum running around turned off and that maybe it's okay to not be okay, to give myself a little more credit, be proud to be fighting for great love.
@L1ly0ftheValley Whats a silver lining? i didn't think life would get better.

In early 2020 I was in AA. My sponsor volunteered me to work the big yearly AA convention that was being held in my state. I didn’t want to do it but I agreed. I hated the idea of it yet I was ready to go through with it even thought I suffer from serious social anxiety.
The pandemic hit and in resulted in 14 Million + people dyeing but the convention was canceled so i never had to go 👍
@L1ly0ftheValley the only silver lining is that i'm still alive
at least for now
so *** thats good
Well, ha, my husband keeps secrets on his phone and won’t give me the passcode or even let me look at his pictures. I know that means he is probably still *** with other women even though he promised to stop and to delete everything . Silver lining is at least I don’t have to see or read any of it!
@L1ly0ftheValley The current economic situation is rough for almost everybody, as you surely know. I am no exception. But here's the silver lining: Because the Federal Reserve has ratcheted up the official interest rate as much as it has, other interest rates have gone up also. Right now is a good time to have bonds or T-bills, & the better savings accounts give you a bit more monthly than they would in good times. Even CDs* are a good thing to buy now, & that wasn't the case for years before the present. This will almost certainly hold true for the first half of 2023.
*CD as in certificate of deposit, not a disc with music or files on it.

Right now, i'm trying to get my drivers license, but i never would be able to handle the stress, if i tried it a few years ago. I was always extremely sensible and overwhelmable, and i never could function properly, neither in school, nor at work. I always had attention problems, and i was always daydreaming in class, and not listening what the teacher was saying. I somehow luckily managed to pass 10th grade here in Germany, without fixing my concentration problems, and without having to deal with my overwhelming emotions (never learned a healthy coping mechanism till then). However, time passed by, and life got harder and harsher, and i had to adjust to my circumstances, and had to tackle some of my flaws asap. I didn't liked what i was becoming since childhood, but it didn't bothered me so much, because times weren't so hard then, but right when i ate crap, i realized that things must change. As i said, i was always emotionally overwhelmable, and there was no place for that, and somehow i ended up being nearly completely emotionally dull. I nearly had no motivation, day in and day out, but i created weekly schedules, tried to get help from psychiatrists, looked out for physical deficiencies, tried to meditate, tried going to the gym, participated in two half marathons, gave up my bad habits and so on ..., and i'm still doing most of the things within my weekly schedule, but there no enthusiasm, just functioning like a robot, and worrying if i'm on the right path. I nearly feel no rewards of doing these activities, but i have no choice, i have to do it, and there are several reasons for it. If i stay home too long, without doing one of these activities, i'd sink into my depression again, so i have to stuff my weekly schedule full of this things, which i honestly don't enjoy to do. I'm trying to write all problems down in my notebook, and i'm going to show that to my psychiatrist, so that he can help me as best as possible. I don't really care if someone reads this comment, but i had to write it down, so i can sleep better tonight. Whoever red this comment, is probably going through the same kinda *** as me (why else should you read this, couriosity?), and if that's the case, then i'll just gently recommend you to prioritize to think positively all the time, and if you get lost in thought, then try to be mindful, and try meditation for that, as i believe, that it helped me a lot. Be strong and be confident, you deserve better than this, and i hope you see your own value. Peace out!

Oops, i forgot about what the main topic about the thread was 😅. I guess my silver lining would be, that my harsh environment, made me mentally stronger, and forced me to handle stuff on my own, without whining, and escaping into dreamworlds. It helped me open my eyes, and see the world for what it is.

I have been dealing with accepting the fact that my mother, who used to be 1 of my best friends, is that no longer. She has become an awful, entitled, selfish, money hungry, pathetic excuse for a human being. I was so enraged by this but it has become much easier to accept and that rage that I used to feel isn't there anymore. It also seems that, because of how terrible she is, she is starting to have to deal with the fact that being that kind of person pushes away the truly wonderful people in your life. Thus leaving her with users like she is and that has been wonderful to watch.
@L1ly0ftheValley I think one of my biggest challenges right now is my relationship. My boyfriend is going towards alcoholism, especially during the weekends he drinks a lot. This causes me to on Saturdays I barely sleep, as he goes out, gets into trouble, and I stay worried at home not able to sleep. This in turn ruins my only day off on Sunday as I am super grumpy and tired as I stayed up all night. I work from home, so I barely am able to leave the house between Mondays and Saturdays, so if I stay up all Saturday night I am not able to enjoy my only day off on Sunday. This resulted in me not having a day off to really relax and do something fun for months already, which is showing a great toll on my body right now. The silver lining of this all, I think, is that I have the opportunity to grow. To grow in a way where I have to learn to let go of control. I can't control what my boyfriend does, and staying up worrying all night is serving me nor him no purpose. I am in the process of learning how to deal with all this, so I can help and/or support him wherever I can without undermining my needs or feelings. This is also an opportunity for me to get to know myself and see how far I am willing to go (and suffer) through all this. It might not seem like a positive thing, but I am getting to know myself a lot better. I am able to analyze my fears, why don't I just leave him? Why do I keep supporting him? How strong am I really? This together with finally pursuing my dream to attend university online and having/improving my own freelance business online, really gives me the opportunity to get to know myself and my needs better. And makes me more and more aware of who I am, and what is important to me. Which I think, is the first step for me to start a better, healthier life.
