Questions to ask someone who is grieving
Hi everyone! I hope you are well. Grief is a part of life, we all either have or will experience grief. But its hard to know what to say in such situations, what to ask, what not to ask. Its a very different situation compared to our day to day socialization.
Those who have experience grief, what questions you wish people had asked?
@Hope
I am 57 and have been to plenty of funeral services. Three in this past year alone.
As a general practice i don't remember people asking about the deceased.
Funerals are actually for the surviving. May be ask the spouse, child, etc. of the person who has passed how they are holding up and if there is anything they might need.
@Hope I, personally, wish that people would not be so afraid to mention my loved one's name... and that they wouldn't be scared to talk about him or ask me about him. I know for some, they would rather not want the reminder or mentions but I do. I don't want to forget my loved one or not not feel the pain and hurt. I choose to remember the good times and talking about it helps... for me anyway. Of course, I didn't always feel this way. The best thing we can do for someone grieving is to just be there for them at the times they need you most. Talking not even required. Just together-- being together.
somebody could as me as if im okay with the score i got in academics or just ask me what i feel about them
