Grandma's first anniversary is coming up by the end of July. The rest of my family (brother and parents) will be visiting her grave and my Uncle's grave this November, as they go on vacation.. I am unable to go with them because I just started a new job and do not have any vacation time yet.. I'll have some for next year.. It was very saddening for my Uncle's passing.. as he was a survivor for cancer but passed away from a stroke.. His wife found him motionless middle of the night, called for Ambulance right away, and he was in a coma for 2 days before passing away in the first week of December.

I can't believe it's nearly a year since Grandma left, her passing was so sudden and a complete shock for me.. For some time, I felt angry at my other Uncle, Grandma's only son, as I heard that he was the reason my grandma ended up nearly getting a heart attack.. After that incident, her blood pressure and mental health was affected.. and she kept being in-and-out of the hospital, where she eventually passed in her sleep around 1am July 31st, 2024 (Hong Kong time zone).

@Jaeteuk anniversaries are always hard🙁 I hope you find some comfort that she passed peacefully in her sleep💖 I really hope your uncle did too, or at least quickly with little pain 💖 I understand your pain right now, my son would be 14 years old on the 30th 😥 hugs you tightly 💖 right here for you, you don't have to suffer alone 💖

Thank you, Whisper. I'm just saddened that I'm unable to visit their graves for the first anniversary. My Uncle though, they had his ashes sprinkled onto a tree. Apparently in Hong Kong, the family can choose how their ashes are dealt with. So, there's like a graveyard like place all grown with trees. Where people can sprinkle their loved ones ashes to a tree and have a plaque in remembrance. Where as with my Grandma, she's just on a plaque on a wall, with the ashes kept elsewhere. At least she's reunited with Grandpa.

Wow, a 30 year old son. He's living a better life now.. no more pain and hurt. If I may ask..? Are birthdays harder than their passing anniversaries?

The upside of my family's visit to their graves is that I'll be home alone for at least 2 weeks..

@Jaeteuk oops! I meant he would be 14 years old on the 30th, sorry I have to type with my middle finger, so lots of spelling mistakes. Sprinkling ashes on a tree is a nice tradition💖 unfortunately all anniversaries and holidays are just had hard as each other, but you learn little ways to cope and help yourself get through it. Like for my sons birthday present I got a star named after him🙂 and I wrote him a poem which I'll attach to a balloon and let it float up to heaven on his birthday💖 I also have a willow tree in the garden where I go most days and just sit and talk to him  it's our special place💖 having 2 weeks home alone sounds nice, you get to relax and enjoy some alone time💖
