Hi guys, I don't really know if losing a pet counts but on September 19 2022, I lost my cat, her name was Snickerdoodles but my family just called her 'Mama Kitty', she was there my whole life and it hurts to think about the fact that she's gone, I feel worse because when she was having her last moments, I was on a call with my friends, until I heard my mom crying that she was gone, then I realized she had passed away, she was an old cat, around 12-15 years old, maybe a bit younger, but I wasn't expecting her to pass away yet, I don't know if its normal to still be grieving like this after over a year.

grief is different for all and IMO there is no time frame that in x amount of time ... are these feelings intensified as you feel you should have been paying attention to her at the last rime of her life?
I sometimes feel people have a harder time dealing with grief in situations like this are unresolved feelings about not being there or perhaps a bad last time you saw them etc.... It is OK to forgive yourself and remember when they were healthy and happy and all the good time you had with your cat. i think grief lingers when we blame ourselves or overthink about if only i did this or that....
I’m very sorry for the loss of your beautiful cat. Our furry animals are our family members. They are precious to our household. Our pets are genuine and loving, they make us smile when they do silly things, they can be very supportive emotionally and mentally. Again I am sorry for your loss.
@Purpleteen123 awwww gives you a giant tiny hug ❤❤ it's definitely ok to still be grieving a year later even 5 years later. She was more than a pet she was part of your family, a loved one. And it's haertbreaking when you loose a loved one😞 so yeah sweetie being upset and every emotion you feel is perfectly normal ❤ don't be afraid to reach out here ❤ sends loving beams your way ❤

Of course losing a pet counts. If you are anything like me, your pets are just like family so losing them is hard. I recently lost one of my dogs and I’m still grieving over losing her too.
