First time with a form of grief

(Sorry for poor grammar, I’m crying and I’m about to go to bed.) I caught up with my ex after months, and he’s doing much better than before. He has a new friend group and wonderful things lined up in his future. I’m happy for him but honestly I’m just so incredibly and surprisingly sad that I’m not in his life anymore when we used to be so close. I know he’s growing up, and eventually that’s what we all have to do, but I’m just struggling and having a difficult time processing my feelings. I’ve never felt this way before, like this feeling of really losing something or being replaced. It’ll never be the same between us anymore, at least not for a while, until our paths in life may cross again. I’ve talked to my mentors and peers about it and they offered some helpful advice, but I just want to know what 7 cups users think about this. I just want to stop crying so much about this lol. Thanks for commenting if you do

@daylight13

it is common to feel upset and feel out or sorts maybe even a bit jealous ...... when someone has moved on with their life....

lots of feelings to process and many what ifs sometimes...... the best thing you can do is do your own growing ...........find yourself and things lined up for your future maybe even find someone new

that way if you cross paths again he will see your growth as well and be happy for you.

Hi! I can completely relate and understand what you're feeling. I've been through the same exact feelings you describe here. I've also felt jealous of my ex as the other user mentioned in their post.

These feelings will take a while to pass and crying is your way of processing them. It's my way too. Your emotions are being released with the tears so let them be.

I know that we sometimes think we should not be feeling a certain way except we do so we need to accept that our feelings are what they are.

It's incredibly painful to lose a person you love, for them to no longer be a part of your life, or you theirs. It is crushing.

One day your body and soul will speak to you and tell you I want better for myself. Listen to them then and take the necessary action for you to be happy about who you are. This is life, and we're probably going to face more losses in our lives. Grieve and know that you deserve to feel peace once again.

I wish you the best and I send you the warmest hugs.
