My aunt died in 2023 but it feels like it was just yesterday. Everyone in my family has moved on and they aren't grieving anymore so I just feel misunderstood every time I try bring it up then they say "it's in the past now move on" but she died because of a heart attack . I honestly feel unheard, empty, sad and upset because of her death she didn't die peacefully she was really scared and it's not fair

@drainedstar3540

sorry for your loss and sometimes people do just want to move on.

Are your thoughts about the heart attack aspect. Is it about health and questioning if others may have an attack as well?

@drainedstar3540

grief has no time line,. grief is somethign that will stay with you forever, yes it changes overtime, but your feelings are vaild. everyone greives differently, but there is no right or wrong way. I am sorry that you have been hearing those phrases from your family, you are not alone in this <3

First, I want to say how sorry I am for your loss. Losing a family member is never an easy thing to go through.

When it comes to grief unfortunately there is no end. On the bright side though it is something that over time will not feel as intense. Every individual faces this in different ways, and there is no timeline on when and how you should feel at each stage.

I hope you allow yourself to feel these feelings without judgement and know you are not alone!

@drainedstar3540 I'm so sorry.

I just learned that there's such a thing as complicated grief, also known as prolonged grief disorder.  If you feel up to doing an online search there might be some resources out there to help somewhat, hopefully.

Family might not be comfortable talking about your aunt's passing, but are they at least willing to reminisce about memories of her and her life?  Especially on, say, the anniversary of her birthday?

Hang in there.
