Loss
I found out a girl i used to be close friends with has died, and i feel really confused.
We was best friends and my parents used to drink at her parents pub most days and id see her every weekend at minimum for years straight. we lost contact when we started secondary school, recently coming in contact again about this time last year, maybe february 2025 and we went to town had a sleepover and spoke every few weeks until she died.
I dont feel extremely sad, because it doesnt seem right or real.
But when someone mentions it i go all shaky and anxious and sometimes angry. I feel like i am reacting wrong.

Your Feelings Are Valid 🫂💕
It is completely natural to feel confused after losing someone with whom you once shared a close bond, especially when your grief does not appear in the way you or others expected. Sometimes, it may not feel real at first. Our minds take time to process loss. Not everyone feels sadness immediately—some may feel numbness, anxiety, or even anger, just as you have been experiencing. These reactions are completely genuine.
There is no “right” or “wrong” way to react to loss. Each person’s experience of grief is different. Feeling shaky or overwhelmed when someone mentions it may be a sign that your mind is slowly processing what has happened. It takes time to accept such a sudden loss.
One gentle step toward healing could be to allow yourself to sit with your emotions without judging them. You can also express your feelings by writing down your thoughts during this phase. This can help release some of the emotional weight and bring a sense of clarity.
If writing does not help and you still feel heavy, talking to someone you trust can also help you process your emotions. Sharing your feelings instead of holding them inside can ease the emotional burden.
Be patient with yourself and take extra care during this time. You deserve self-love, self-care, and compassion. Your feelings may change gradually, and your pain can heal with time. You are not reacting “wrong”—you are grieving in your own way.
Sending love, compassion, support, and healing your way 🪄✨💕🫂

I second everything Billie’s said, what you feel is normal and totally valid. There is no right or wrong way to grieve. It can be hard to feel that it is real. You are not alone. Sending love your way, reach out if need someone to talk to 🫶🫶
