I lost my mom 2 yrs ago and my dad 6yrs ago. My grief comes in waves now whereas before it was constant so I'm making progress.

it does take time but it is much easier to deal with when it only comes in waves and some times you get a reprieve.

@anonyBanana7943 So sorry to hear that. I'm proud you brought this up. It's got to be so tough, yet it sounds like you're doing your best. Hang in there, friend.

Hey there @anonyBanana7943

I'm truly sorry for your losses. Grief can be a complex and evolving process, and it's understandable that your feelings come in waves as time goes on. It's positive to hear that you're noticing some progress in managing your grief, even though it still presents itself in waves.

Remember that everyone's grieving process is unique, and there's no set timeline for healing. It's okay to have moments where your emotions resurface, and it's also okay to have moments where you feel like you're making progress.

If you ever need a space to talk about your feelings, memories, or anything else related to your loss, feel free to reach out. Sharing your experiences with others who understand or seeking support from a mental health professional can be helpful as you continue to navigate through this journey of grief.

I hope you gain energy in the reprieves to handle the waves. Accumulated healing and aambd acceptance will eventually overpower the unhealed and unresolved. Keep hopeful even while you struggle. Practice self care and be kind to yourself, you deserve it.

Same ! Lost my dad 7 years ago and my mum 2 years ago. I’m just about surviving. Feel the void every time I hear friends talk about their parents. Just so lonely and incomplete.

Oddly enough, I have the same thing, but in opposite... lost my dad 2 years ago and my mom 6 years ago. I am glad to hear about your progress... I am the same, except I have bitterness on top of it as step-mom and siblings abandoned me AND kept everything I was promised to receive when my dad was alive. ALL 3 of them did some evil, EVIL, nasty stuff for no other reason than spite and jealousy, I guess (hard to tell when they are so toxic that there is no communication nor rational thought to even grasp at to uncode their disgusting nature).

I hope you have chosen family or tribe members to call your own who care and who have shared values. If not I hope you find them soon. Take care of yourself and distance yourself from evil and abuse.

Grief often does come in waves, and these waves can become less frequent and intense as time goes on. This doesn't mean you'll stop missing your parents or that the feelings will disappear entirely, but it does show that you're adapting to the loss and finding ways to cope.
