Hello friends,

Since we just celebrated a big holiday here in the USA (Thanksgiving), I thought now would be a good time to post a checkin.

To those who celebrate Thanksgiving:

1.  What did you to celebrate the holiday?

2.  Did you do something special to honor your loved one?  If so, how did you honor them.

3.  How are you feeling after the holiday?

If you do not celebrate Thanksgiving:

1.  How are you doing this weekend?

2.  What is one thing you can do to honor the memory of your loved one?

3.  How are you feeling this weekend?

@Kristynsmama hellooo ❤ I try to go out in the garden in the mornings sit under the willow tree that's where my carers put a cross for him. It's Joshua s tree ❤ I like to watch the sunrise and talk to God and my son. I know he's with God in heaven now and he's happy and safe. I do this as often as I can ❤

@Kristynsmama

To those who celebrate Thanksgiving:

1. What did you to celebrate the holiday?

I ordered pizza and challenged my thoughts around feeling I'm wrong or guilty or something for not having a traditional Thanksgiving or anywhere or anyone to spend it with.

2. Did you do something special to honor your loved one? If so, how did you honor them.

I kept going even though I had no reason to.

3. How are you feeling after the holiday?

I feel like it's a sip of air before going back under the water of Christmas.

If you do not celebrate Thanksgiving:

This post is a bit confusing because I'm trying to figure out my own culture, what I celebrate and how I celebrate it, so I'm in a weird in between stage: I am a mutt with four different cultures and trans-generational trauma. One of those cultures is Metis, and exploring spirituality and religion, tradition and celebration to find what works for me is hard because I have bpd and so much guilt, grief and pain to heal, cope and deal with.

1. How are you doing this weekend?

...it's Tuesday so I'm realizing I'm late on this post even though I just got a notice for it now...

2. What is one thing you can do to honor the memory of your loved one?

Well, there's many who have passed and I haven't yet integrated that pain into a thing that can be coped with. Right now it's kind of just learning to ride the wave and being tossed and trashed on the coral.

3. How are you feeling this weekend?

It was super polarized this weekend. Was very great, and very horrible.

Thank you so much for your response. I’m really glad you allowed yourself to be ok without any holiday tradition.

As Always,

Kristy

@Kristynsmama Thanksgiving was so busy for me but I was able to take some time out and get new flowers for my mother and just sit with her amidst all the chaos

@Clarezg

This is great that you were able to just sit with your mom and get her some new flowers.  It’s hard to just sit and be still when things are so busy and during the chaos of a holiday!

My wife and I rented a place in the mountains for the holiday this year. Had no family obligations so decided maybe we could use this.

Didn't do anything to celebrate mom, feel terrible saying this but I honestly tried not to think about her. She just passed in July and her birthday was November 9th so it's all so fresh and just hurts so much still.

As far as how I'm feeling after the holiday... exhausted, anxious, depressed, dreading the rest of the holidays. Actually told my wife I want nothing to do with holidays this year. Felt bad even saying it because she loves the holidays and decorating. But I just feel like the decorations are going to be a lot for me to handle this year. However I don't want to stop her from enjoying the holidays so of course told her we can decorate and I'll just get through it.
