Helpful Words
Hi everyone, I hope you are doing well. Human beings tend to remember the words said to them in tough times. Unfortunately, we tend to have more memories of unhelpful words than good ones.
Today let's reflect on the helpful words that were said to you in times of grief
Loss of an opportunity of sorts:
"For as long you are breathing, you have what it takes to change the course, going back isnt an option, however moving forward is. Because as harsh as it might sound, it wasn't the end of the world and life goes on, so should you."
Part of this feels quite invalidating, like hey my world did end lol, what are you even talking about! But then again, there's truth, life goes on, it's always an option to sit and sulk around, but also an option to take time to process, heal, plan afresh and get back in the game~ in life, because no matter *what* happens, so long there's breathing, there's hope and we can try again! 💛
Loss of a love one:
"They aren't around us in-person but they will always be part of us, in our heart"
Oddly comforting, because sure you can't actually see, hear or touch them, but you can feel the warmth and they are alive in your memories, for however long you want them to be. 💛
Some of the most helpful words for me that I remember when I lost a loved one were all the kind words said about my relative and the positive impact they also had in their lives too. I remember hearing stories of how my loved one had gone out to help someone specifically and brought them lunch one day and sat with them and made them laugh. It helped me to know how loved they still are to this day and how our love for our loved ones doesn't ever stop. Our attachment to our loved ones still will always live in our hearts.
Grieving the loss of an opportunity is also very challenging. Something that has helped me has been hearing that there are so many other opportunities waiting that we have not yet experienced. It's always useful to know there are many more doors that are going to open for us even if the one we wanted to open didn't open for us yet.
This one isn’t a quote or anything, but I personally have lost two loves.
The first one was my best friend, who passed away from cancer when she was just 16. Every now and then, I see her smile, radiant as ever, and know that she’d be proud of me.
The second one was much more recent (a little over a year ago), and was our family’s dog, Charlie. Even though he was just a dog, he understood us better than anyone else.
My point is, that even if you don’t remember what was said, you remember what you did together, so always remember. So long as you do that, they’ll never leave you. 😊
