Group Mods Introduce Yourselves!

Hi, I'm Olivia. It's a joy to watch you all moderate, with your unique styles,and I feel like I learn a lot from being in your presence. I can't wait to learn more from this thread!

1) What is yourfavouritething about being a Group Mod?

My favorite thing about being a group mod is watching guests help each other.It's often moving and I am happy they have a space to talk with each other in real time now. It's been quite inspiring to see people who've beenisolated suddenly be so much less alone. And the "thank you" messagesI see while moderating are priceless.

2)If you could improve one thing in Group Support Chat, what would it be?

If I could improve one thing, it'd be discouragingchatroom guests from messaging moderators to seekone-on-one chats. It'schallenging to bebombarded by PMs while moderating.

3) If you could be anywhere doing anything right now, where and what would it be?

I would be going for a night hike up my favorite local hill, which I think I shall do in a moment!

Hi, I'm Allie :) I've not been moderating for very long, but it's still worth introducing myself.

1) My favorite thing is probably being present when members help one another. It just makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside, like I helped to make that moment happen.

2) I definitely agree with Olivia on this one, I would discourage members from asking for private chats. It's tough to tell them that you've got to keep moderating.

3) I would be sleeping right now, because I am in a technical production week for my musical at school and I don't get home until 9:30 every night. (Then homework, shower, etc...) But if I couldn't sleep, I'd be curled up on my bed with a book, and maybe some mint tea :)

I love how all the memberssupport one another and love one another, it makes me smile! And I really enjoy the unity within everyone and how it makes me so warm just speaking to everyone!

2)If you could improve one thing in Group Support Chat, what would it be?

I agreewith Olivia! Yes, it's hard when members PM me while I'm moderating.

3) If you could be anywhere doing anything right now, where and what would it be?

I would betravelling, with lots of books on hand. I wouldprobably be off toEngland right now with plans to go throughmost of Europe! I would write tons as well.

4) If you had an 8th day in a week, what would you do with it?

I would read tons, and I would probably make myself a fancy salad to use in my lunch for the week - I love different types of salads! I would sleep in as well.

1) What is your favouritething about being a Group Mod?
So far, my favourite thing is being able to maintainquality control in the chatrooms, and answer questions that guests have. I'm happy I haven't had to tell off anyone yet though, but itfeels nice to know I can help when we're overrun with trolls.

2)If you could improve one thing in Group Support Chat, what would it be?
Nothing other than what has already been suggested.

3) If you could be anywhere doing anything right now, where and what would it be?
I wish I could be in my future tiny dreamhome with my husband, where we'd be raising chickens and planting crops. <3

Helping people and fighting off the bots and "bad" people. ;)

Having more people to help with the requests. We need more Leaders.

New York with my family and we would just be chilling as I don't care what I would be doing with them as I am with them.

What's your favorite animal?

Hi! I'm Evelyne :) I've been on 7cupsalmost since it was founded (not quite but one of the "oldest" here I suppose). It's been a crazy super awesome ride and I am still here. Made some great friends here and I was super excited about group mods! I also like the word super. To answer the question above, I do not have a favorite animal.

1) What is your favouritething about being a Group Mod?

It's something i've never done before, and I really like it! I mean obviously since I've never done it, I'm not perfect. Starting out, it was hard and I was honestly super bad at it. Just takes time I guess. It was a bit overwhelming, but I really like it and I think my favorite thing is just being able to have a group like chat with everyone coming together and supporting one another.

2)If you could improve one thing in Group Support Chat, what would it be?

Make it more clear to members what the chats are for. I've had listeners come into waiting room asking about what to do in their one on one chats, members start talking randomly in waiting room, and then there's no real distinction on where people should go for what. No one knows what is light and what is serious and I think that is confusing for both members and listeners.

3) If you could be anywhere doing anything right now, where and what would it be?

1) My favorite thing about being a Group Mod is being able to actually help other listeners. It's sometimeseasy to be overwhelmed, so supporting my fellow listeners brings me a lot of joy!

2)If I could change the Group Chat, I would add a system where people can "tag" users in their messages. This way, if someone replies to your group message, but you are talking to someone one-on-one in another chat as well, the messaging system would notify you that someone is talking to you.

3) I would be in the Red Woods in California on a hike and camping by the water.

1) What is your favouritething about being a Group Mod?

My favorite thing is undoubtedly building a sense of rapport among my fellow listeners and members. I love when members can come to me and feel safe, and are happy when I join the chat room.

2)If you could improve one thing in Group Support Chat, what would it be?

I feel as though Listeners can ban members too easily from the chatroom. Numerous times, people have come to me saying "Why did I get banned? I wasn't saying anything wrong." I believe that the banning button becomes misused. Especially, if someone comes in saying that they're dealing with depression, and get banned for it (I've seen it happen more than once).

Inflammatory messages are one thing, certainly, and active suicide threats are another, undoubtedly. But I'm a firm believer in deleting the messages they said, having them PM me, and trying to come up with a solution from there. If one can not be reached, and they continue, then perhaps it is best that they be banned from the chat. Perhaps that is kind of a "to each their own" policy, but I just hate seeing members give up on the site because they're being unfairly banished from the chat room.

3) If you could be anywhere doing anything right now, where and what would it be?

I think I'd be back in NYC with an unlimited amount of money, and visiting every shop I can.

4) Where in the world (or what in the world) makes you happiestto be or to be doing? :)

My passion lies in helping people, and it doesn't matter what branch that goes into. I like helping people on 7Cups. I like helping people in real life with school work, or medical conditions. I like helping people get their story out by me being a Journalist. It makes me happiest when someone tells me I've made a positive difference in their life.

My question for the next group mod is:What is your favorite color, and what is your favorite thing that is colored your favorite color?
For example, my favorite color is green, and my favorite green thing is trees. :)

Hello, I'm mobbsy. Been on 7 cups for a couple of months now!

1) I love being able to support those who are feeling vulnerable, and those who are brave enough to share in group chat

2) Nothing that's not already been said

3) I would be in bed in the evening just able to chill out (instead of having to get up for Monday in about 5 mins!)

4) Black - possibly the blackest night sky with the occasional star.
