People in chat are ignoring others

I see a lot of ignoring in the chat rooms. I see a bunch of members chatting about trivial things, like 'pooping' and video games ect, but when others come in to chat about a particular subject of issue, they are ignored.

If you are not there to give support or to get support, then go to facebook or somewhere else!!!

I can understand your frustration. To be honest, the chat rooms intimidate me. I don't know anyone and I don't think clearly that fast. I like to be able to formulate my ideas (so I don't say anythingtoo stupid).

People (must) go into the chat rooms for different reasons; that still doesn't excuse them from ignoring anyone who may evenpotentially be suffering.

Try and stay safe. I'll be glad to talk with you any time I'm around.

Thank you. I helped someone in there a week or so ago. they took too many pills and were afraid. anyway, I convinced them to call for help. this was ligit, even a mod was in the room at the time. some people go there for ligitreasons. If people there have ill intentions they need to stay out.

I get this! I see what you mean. Some people do come on here to GET support though, one on one, or just to make friends that may have similar problems.

I sometimes feel the same way but I also know people go to the forums for different reasons. Some want to talk about their personal struggles and get supprt. Some just want to follow the conversation as a silent observer. And then others go to have a casual conversation about "trivial" things because they want to feel like like they're just talking to friends. They may not have someone to joke with or talk about things that interest them with anyone else. 7 cups serves many purposes.

@friendlySkies927 that's a very inclusive way to think about it - I guess people do come to 7 cups for different reasons and sometimes the act ofchatting, regardless of the topic's heaviness or lightness, eases the mind and provides comfort. That said, it would be idealif we could all support each other, even just for a little bit, in times of need.

This is the main reason why I never use the chat rooms. Many times I have had the need to use the chats, but once there I see the comments and conversations which lack of any sense and guess what? I prefer to go somewhere else. Sorry for being honest guys! :)

I know, this is the same reason i stop visiting any chat rooms. They will just ignored you, at first yes, they will say hi to you but everyone is in their own thing. Its kind of frustrating.

I totally agree! I was just diagnosed with anxiety & joined the anxiety support group chat...I introduced myself & said that I was kind of freaked out by the diagnosis & asked if anyone had any advice. Not a single person even acknowledged that I said anything. Very frustrating!

I totally understand what you are saying. However, there are times when the chatroom you enter is already busy talking about something, so no one is "available" to speak to you. I've definitely gone through a similar experience, which is why when I enter a chatroom I try my best to talk to everyone.

It also depends on what room you are in. For example, for the most part, people go to the Community Room to talk about their problems when in fact the community room is for light-hearted chats. I'm not saying that if you have problems you should not go there, it's just that most of the time people go there to have random conversations and not really thorough discussions about issues. That's why sometimes people get ignored when they start talking about certain problems that they have, because people are not exactly "ready" for those kinds of things.

If it is a specific room though, a room that should apply to your issues, then the whole ignoring thing should not happen. Because, well, the people there should help you. If you do feel that you are getting purposely ignored, then either browse for a listener or go on the general request queue, so that someone can listen to you 1-on-1.

Yes, I agree. This is a place to help each other not talk about candy crush and stuff.

The group chat isterrible. It's mostly the same people talking about the same things whenever I come on. Nobody is getting support, nobody is giving support. The depression support is mostly people that are not depressed. You can tell by the way they treat people that are dealing with depression. They say the same stupid things people say whenthey dont understand depression. After saying "you need to be happy with yourself" a couple times they go back to talking about sex in the creepiest way possible or some kind of drama going on with some member and another member that arent there at the moment and everything else they can think of to makeit uncomfortable for people trying to deal with real problems.

Hello, I had an emergency, went to listener support, community, asked for help, I have had bad responses from chat room, and decided not to go on them, but had to. The first thing when asked for help I said client, there was a response from one or two people saying oh you call them members guests, not clients, NOT helpful, when I was concerned and they were talking about this,!!!! One person was, but in emergency, this is not helpful, the room is meant to be SUPPORT, not chastisement. I HATE chatrooms. Get over yourselves.
