Group Support Prompt #5: Elements of Yalom Group Therapy- Sense of Belonging
Welcome back all to Group Support Prompts Discussion! I hope you are all being easy on yourself & reaching out to group chats to get support this week.
Last week we discussed: Elements of Yalom Group Therapy- Here & Now Experiences!. Thank you to all who participated and shared their thoughts for discussion. I enjoyed them. I hope you all did too. If you didn't share yours, please share them here and I look forward to reading and discussing them with you.
One of the key elements of Yalom's approach is the importance of the therapeutic relationship within the group. Yalom believes that the relationships formed between group members and the therapist are essential for healing and growth. In his view, the group provides a unique setting where individuals can experience a sense of belonging and acceptance, while also receiving support and feedback from others who may be facing similar challenges.
This week's prompt: Do you feel accepted and belong to the group chats?
Please take a moment to reflect and share your experiences where you felt heard and times when you didn't. I look forward to hearing and discussing with you all!

@ASilentObserver most of the time yes😁 but sometimes people get annoyed at my positivness. But I like everyone I meet in the chatrooms, and I think most of them like me😁
@Tinywhisper11
You are very Likable, Lola! 💕
@Tinywhisper11 It is really wonderful that you find positivity with most people in the group chats. You are someone who value connecting with others. And we appreciate you and your support to make others feel comfortable.
I enjoy your company ❤️
@ASilentObserver
I haven't used them much, but most of the time when I have used them, yes I do feel like I belong. Generally people are friendly and willing to listen, respond kindly, and appreciate what you have to say to them as well. Only annoying bit is whoever keeps randomly clicking the Refer button.
@ItsReganingRain I am glad that you have found people on here generally friendly and willing to listen. Feeling a sense of belonging is important. It is good that you have had positive experiences being heard and appreciated. But I also understand how getting referred even by mistake can be annoying experience. We are all here with you to listen to and to support, rain. thank you for being here with us and all your support and presence in the group chats.
