Hi everyone! 💛

I'm Grace,

And I'm here to remind you that:

We're all dancing on this weird former floating fireball, called earth, together, so why not make the best of it. 👯⭐️

I used to be a kid that didn't speak a lot. Not because I was scared of talking, but i just didn't feel the need to talk. I'd rather listen and observe. At home, talking about emotions was definitely not the prime concern. What most people don't realize, is that talking and emotions are not one and the same. It sounds perfectly logical right? Still, the main focus of teaching kids about emotions is to 'talk' about their emotions and 'tell' others when they don't like something. This is of course really important when it comes to communicating with others. Talking is the most common and straight forward emotional language. But what if you don't understand this foreign language? You understand that you need to communicate, but it doesn't make sense to verbalize these emotions. It took me a long time to figure this out. I've always been told that 'I'm not in touch with my emotions' and 'I need to be more open about how I'm feeling'. Even though, as a kid, I had learned many ways to express my emotions. And deep down I always knew that when it comes to your own emotions there are no rules in how to express them. My dad and I would grab my banana shaker instrument and dance to Willy DeVille. He always said 'every day is a party so we better celebrate'. When something sad happened, we would change the music with our mood. He taught me how music used a language of his own where you don't need to use words to express your feelings. My mom would make little picture books for me and write little notes that I would find around the house. This taught me my way to express my feelings and communicate in more ways than words could ever do.

And this is my native language.

Unfortunately, bottling up emotions is not strange to do in this society. However, there should be a difference in not being able to express feelings and deviating from the norm in expressing those feelings. I know it is not often the language people think about when someone asks what you are feeling. And I'm happy to learn other languages. Just keep in mind that I already have my first language; ART✨

Love,

Grace

I would love or you to join my 101 Feelin' and Dealin' with Grace journey and maybe we can do this together💛💛💛

@AliceWonder

Hi Grace!

I think its great that your parents did these things for you and helped you to find your own ways of expressing things and 'speaking your language'! Thats really lovely.

Thank you for sharing this with everyone! And for sharing your experiences, while also allowing us to get to know you a little better.
