Moving apart
Has it ever happened to any of you that you just grew apart from people not because of arguments or because it personal differences but because suddenly you realised that their and their attitude has been so pessimistic that it just hampers your emotional and mental well being and somehow without making a concious move you pull yourself apart from these people who ones were your extremely close friends.

Its hard but yes that has happened!
Sometimes as much as you like people, your values no longer align!
It's ok to move forward and out yourself first and what you need!
Sone people are friends for a short time and some for a lifetime!

Yes, it happens ... people whom you once were close perhaps you outgrew them. pessimism is very wearing on our nerves if we do not share the same outlook.
Yeah, I know that feeling. But sometimes our intuition really knows when we just need to stop seeing things that doesn't help us at all
Yes. And ive realized ive been that person in the past too, and that also hurts. Alot of my friendships over the years ive interacted with very unhealthily or just cut off. After awhile i realized im the issue. So these days i try to be the best friend i can, not being overly pessimistic and all that.
Agree

Yes, what you’re describing is a common experience that many can relate to. Sometimes, relationships don’t end because of a dramatic fallout, but because you start noticing how someone’s constant negativity, complaining, or worldview weighs on you. Even if you love them, being around them can drain your energy instead of lifting you.
What often happens is:
- You stop reaching out as much because you feel emotionally heavy after talking with them.
- Conversations start to feel repetitive or one-sided, focused only on their struggles without openness to change.
- You realize you leave interactions feeling worse, not better.
It’s not always a conscious decision — it can be a quiet, natural shift where your mind protects your own well-being. This is a regular part of life, and it doesn’t diminish the authenticity of the bond you once shared. It simply means that you’ve evolved in different directions.

Its happened by friends sometimes for a time other times for more time than a few years. Growing sometimes gave them the opportunity to gain skills and bring to friends. Sometimes they were on such alternative paths for the time that they couldnt fully relate and maintained great distance and things were good for everyone.
Yeah, happened a lot to me too.
Once you choose yourself, your peace and your well-being a lot of close people around you grow apart from you with each and every growth phase you go through .

So true
@Mj1999 This has happened to me. i mean , i have done that. and i have grown, achieved my goals because of pulling myself away from them. they were great friends but talking with them only made me think more about the society, it would make me have hours of thoughts of wanting to be an ideal person for the society, which affected me negatively.
i do feel bad for not being a great friend to them but i have found many beautiful souls , friends who has a positive impact on me .and that is all because i stopped what was toxic for me.

This usually happens because your mindset has changed, perhaps just a little, but enough to realize how pessimistic a person you once knew is. This is something that I am struggling with, with one of my best friends. Over the last year, I have made some positive changes in myself and how I interact with the world. I have noticed how negative she is, and it's tough to deal with. At some point, we outgrow people. I am not ready yet to move forward without her, but I sense that will happen eventually...
