Perception? Know what it is and how it participates in your journey.
I start my journey here by proposing that we think a little about perception.
I am moved to music! I listen to music studying, working, cleaning the house, and when I go for a walk alone, if there is no music or audio on a topic I like, it is not complete!
As I walk and listen to music or something about spirituality or human development, I feel that I connect with my essence and start looking inside!
I can feel what my body tells me, what my “inner child” wants to tell me, what the ''kacosmic” says/feels/perceives.
It's an experience to dive into me!
This recharges my energy and I feel refreshed and energized.
What is Perception?
According to the dictionary, it is the faculty of apprehending through the senses or the mind; impression or intuition.
But, these definitions are still very subjective, aren't they!?
I found this other definition that I liked the meaning: “action or effect of perceiving, of understanding the SENSE of something through sensations or intelligence.
From this definition we can understand that “perception” is intrinsically subjective and unique from the point of view of each human being!
Precisely because it is something individual, it is a reading of reality through the “lenses” of each individual!
At each perception, at each sense activated by any stimulus/experience, a “film” is played in the mind, and thus, based on their own experiences, each one interprets reality in their own way!
What makes up perception?
Perception encompasses the entire set of:
beliefs,
traumas,
joys,
fear
It is the sum of all experiences and the way each one interprets, from the point of view of this unique being who perceives/feels/lives a certain experience!
If it is a fact that we perceive through sensations, then first the process occurs via the "5 senses":
Hearing,
Smell,
Eyesight,
tact
taste
And, from these stimuli, each brain “maps” its reading and perception within its own experiences and intelligence. Example: Temperature (20°) is a variable, whether it is hot or cold is a perception of each individual.
And how to identify perception?
I believe that the big challenge is trying to “see” beyond our senses and feelings, what is fact and what is perception.
Because if we can't SEE beyond our lens, we'll hardly see the truth!
We are often afraid to face reality in a certain matter of our life. But until we face it, this obstacle will always bother us.
I choose every day to “take under the rug” a little of my ghostly shadows, so that I can see reality and truth more clearly each day!
I invite you to reflect on the themes that frighten you, that disturb your heart and let them come to the surface so that you are able to see beyond your "short-sighted" perception, and after bringing them to your awareness it is easier to be release these negative feelings.
Creating assumptions.
Giving meaning is "perceiving", and perceiving is creating versions of reality from our assumptions!
But what are assumptions?
According to the dictionary “that which is assumed in advance; conjecture; assumption.
In the field of Philosophy, presuppositions concern a belief system, and are necessary for a fundamental, existential and/or normative value to make sense.
For me, this explanation made a lot of sense! It brought many reflections!
Each human being, based on their experiences, creates their own personal assumptions, from which many can benefit us, but many can hinder the development of our life in general, because perhaps in defense, we create assumptions that are limiting beliefs of our happiness, joy , courage and love!
We try all the time to confirm our beliefs, so we may even get out of reason, as the jargon says, “travel in mayonnaise” and lose the logic to confirm our assumptions (the inner truth of our mind).
In a way, this is self-preservation to ensure the survival of our little “I” that is our Ego.
This makes us see skewed, and this is often the cause of most relational conflicts, where each one defends their point of view to protect themselves from their own fears, shame, guilt and other weaknesses.
Normally, our way of seeing the world is related to our childhood experiences.
Our “inner child” (even as adults) tries to protect themselves from the world! It is paradoxical, but we act like this for self-protection of our "I", and in this bias, we see through lenses blurred by a "fog" of assumptions with "truths" distorted from reality, full of illusions and limiting beliefs, and thus we create our perception of the world that can help or hinder all areas of our lives!
How to develop a “look” beyond the perception itself?
Continuing to see the world as we want to see it is an illusion!
When we begin the consciousness-expanding exercise, we begin to discern what is ego and what is reality.
We learn to analyze all events with a certain impartiality, as an observer of our thoughts, actions and reactions to internal and external stimuli!
In this practice, we look from the “outside” how we perceive and what we can change. We need to face our weaknesses to get out of this vicious cycle!
Like? Talking to our inner child, explaining that it's safe to act differently, that you don't need to keep limiting beliefs, and that it's safe and allowed to live differently!!
Are there situations in your life that are repeated? Things that keep coming back? Where do you feel stagnant and plastered?
That's the comfort zone!
It may look nice, but do you really want to stay the same all your life? If the answer is no, if you want to expand, you want to break limiting beliefs, according to neuroscientist Beau Loto, the path is the development of consciousness! Look inwardly, without judgments of right or wrong! How about “hacking/mapping” your mind!?
What stage are you at?
I believe I am at this stage in many topics in my life. I am aware of the things that have been “formatted” in my brain according to the reality of my childhood, adolescence and adult life, and that issues that no longer make sense in my current reality only I can change them!
But this “bridge” to “change the key” requires a lot of surrender of heart and soul! Let go! Let go!
A process of observing how our mind's triggers work. Of how we process each stimulus, and if it harms us, it is necessary to decode the sensory pathways of this brain “format”, and consciously and voluntarily redo these synapses.
Our brain impulses have “learned” to take the same paths, just like when we go from one place to another and automatically follow the same route.
How about choosing a new path from your home to work?! Do different things and tasks (self-challenges) to develop new habits and brain connections.
Adapt to changes!
Keeping control is an illusion!
Life is inherently uncertainty, because the world and the things that make it up are always changing, nature changes, everything changes.
We need to be adaptive and change with change! Changing is an absolutely biological solution.
Let's hack our minds! We need to adapt to change (Loto).
Admit that many of our assumptions and truths limit us!
Being curious and open to the new, understanding the different and thus creating new brain connections.
It is not wise to resist, be flexible!
“Shake your shoulders, relax your back, inhale and let out all the air…. RELEASE YOUR LIFE and PEOPLE"
(Rúbia Machado)
Be lighter with yourself, let go of life! Release you! People!
Live the uncertainty of life, knowing that everyone has their own perception, but if you follow your heart, act with self love and truth in your words giving your best, everything will settle down!
And each day you learn to see with the “lens of unconditional love” of the Creator that is pure love!
Only then is it possible to see and actually live most of the time while we are just mortals!
Great journey into yourself! 😉
@KACOSMIC
Yet ANOTHER Great post Cosmic!... And also some really great 'exercises' to think on, take in, and try to do with yourself.
I love the part about 'Letting Go'...(especially Letting go of People!) even if that includes yourself. And simply being "lighter"~
This is certainly a great read, and I will take the time to read through it again as reminders~
Thanks for sharing!
