“If you’ve ever stepped into the shower at the end of a stressful day and instantly felt a little calmer, then you might be interested in a new trend: The “Everything Shower.”

An “Everything Shower” isn’t simply about washing. It includes a whole host of self-care practices, from slathering on a thick, deeply conditioning hair mask and using a luxurious cleanser on your skin, to shaving and exfoliating from head to toe. Some even like to combine the practice with a fluffy robe or a scented candle.

While nothing new, the “Everything Shower” has been gaining popularity on ***. In fact, the “Everything Shower” hashtag has amassed over 32 million views on the platform in the past month alone, with users saying these time-intensive showers are great for looking after themselves both physically and mentally.

Proponents of the trend say these self-care rituals help with everything from stress management and anxiety to low mood. For some, they are an essential part of their weekly wind-down routine and an opportunity to prioritize themselves.”

My Takeaways:

  • The “Everything Shower” is a recent trend on Tik Tok that emphasizes going beyond a traditional shower and adding a variety of self care routines, sometimes expensive ones at that, to their shower. This includes trying a full course of skin care routine, using a full body exfoliator, taking a bath with bubbles before, or even adding a scented candle in your bathroom.

  • This trend can be helpful as some users say that the practice had greatly improved their physical and mental well-being afterwards. More so, this trend has revived and encouraged creativity regarding going about self-care emphasizing that sometimes it's okay to treat yourself.

  • As life can get quite routine, we can often get lost into the cadence of our daily tasks and struggles that we don’t really have time to “self-care” for ourselves. Yet countless studies have shown the importance of self-caring for better physical and mental health outcomes. If you wanted to start, perhaps trying an Everything Shower may be something to be interested in!

@sunnyWriting4806 To me this sounds like it would cause so many issues! I don't have baths all of the time (and have been told not to). When I do, there is either some bleach put in or plain epsom salts. I've tried non-iodized table salt in the past too.

Shower is similar in that products are minimal. No scrubs, hair masks, etc. I minimize the number of products/the number of chemicals within the products I use. Something like conditioner that is meant to leave a coating is very much out.

My routine varies. I usually go to treatments in clinics 2x a week, semi self-care, semi given care (all the tech does is start up the machine). I do infusions at home 3x a week typically. Medications every day, food almost every day, sometimes it's not allowed. A lot of pacing to conserve energy is done throughout the week..

@AffyAvo

For sure adding on many chemicals and soaps may not be the best for everyone. It's all about what makes you feel comfortable and refreshed at the end of the day. Also a reminder to be mindful that you deserve a break too! Sounds like you're already on top of what your routine looks like!
