Drop your favorite routines!
Hello everyone!
I know sometimes we walk into the gym or get out our at-home equipment because it's time to work out, but then we look around or stare at the equipment and just absolutely blank out about what to do! I figured we could all share our favorite routines, and maybe someone going through a mental block could try one. So I will start!
The BEST back day I have ever curated:
1. 4 sets, 6-8 reps wide-grip cable lat pulldowns
2. 4 sets, 6-8 reps low narrow-grip cable rows
3. 3 sets, 8-10 reps kettlebell gorilla rows
4. 4 sets, 8-10 reps weighted back extensions
5. 4 sets, 6-8 reps assisted pull-ups with alternating grip positions each set

My favorite routines revolve around “Scheduled Group Fitness classes”… Coming together with other like-minded individuals is what keeps me inspired, motivated, & continuing to keep showing up for myself. (Which is also why I’ve been a Fitness Instructor for the past 15-Yrs)….. But Even with being an instructor myself, & having created & put together many routines for others & classes, I too like & prefer being “guided” in my workouts..…
Currently, as a “Participant” in others classes, I show up 7 mornings a week to start my day & get something in at the gym… My early morning regimens consists of the following:
** Zumba, Aqua Zumba, or Aqua Kickboxing (for high energy Cardio)
** Strength, weights, lifting, & Circuit Training (for Strength & building muscle)
** Bootcamp (for a good mix of both cardio & strength)
** Aqua Aerobics (for lighter resistance days)
** Walking (for lighter & recovery days, & meeting daily step goals).
-I’ve had a home-gym since 2020, but “rarely to never” use it (except for my Sauna & Vibration plate). As it’s not as motivating to me as it is being around others, being guided, & feeding off of each others energy.
I used to have strict routines for workouts, but here in the last year to year and a half, I'm kinda winging it based on how my body feels.....I have joint and body pain, (arthritic in nature) sometimes severe, that I can track to weather patterns and inflammation, that I am now on meds for. The meds help greatly but still have breakthrough pain at times......the hardest part for me is realizing that I cannot perform(recovery seems to take longer also) like I did just a few years ago....my brain just won't accept that.....
With that said, I have incorporated a couple of "light" days that include only stretching and mobility....I don't do multiple modalities of exercise in a day anymore....my routine alternates days of Stretching and Mobility, Cardio, and Strength....at least 30 minutes with no max time frame......I also try to get in 10,000 steps on my Garmin throughout the day....
The goal is to re-invent my fitness and come up with something that works for me instead of winging it like I was.....as of right now, my alternating modality days seems to be the way to go.....
