Strength Training?

February 23rd, 2017

Do any of you strength train? If so, what do you do for your exercises?

I just started strength training awhile ago, and the activities I do, are using small hand weights to do arm exercises, squats, and lunges. I would like to delve more into this helpful physical fitness activity, as I know it is helpful for preventing diseases such as osteoporosis, and helps your general level of bodily strength, overall.

I used hand-held weights and also do videos of "Planking", lunges and squats as well.

I used to do "BootCamp" which was an early morning outdoor group exercise. With intervals of strength and cardio. We did ALOT of planks, dips, lunges, squats, etc...alot of it was using your own body weight to strength train with cardio intervals such as sprints, burpees and mountain climbers etc....We did however have mornings where we would use equipment such as weights and elastic bands, and we would also do things such as "Wall-sits", as well as do "Bicep/tricep-Dips" whereever we could find a bench or a wall to do so......

There are alot of great places to look at to find fun strength training exercises such as Pinterest, PopSugar Fitness, Fitness Blender (on Youtube) and many others.

Strength training is so important for overall health! I'm so glad to hear that you have incoroporated it into your routine. Strength training is one of the activities that I enjoy the most. I usually follow along with the free workout videos on https://www.fitnessblender.com.

I'm on about my 15th round of their FB Mass program. I've been a member there since 2012, so I clearly love them and I think you might, too.

Keep up the great work! wink

You are very welcome! It's so easy to fall into that cardio-only rut. Since you're new to weights, use something really light (or no weight at all) the first time you do these, just to make sure you have proper form and prevent injury!
