My testimony on water

Just wanted to pop in and say that ever since I gained a job that requires long, sometimes hard hikes over anything from flat plains, to medium sized hills, to alpine mountains, it really thrusts in my face just how important WATER is on these trips. Since I'm coming from a state with very low elevation (aka flat land Kansas) to a much higher elevation (Montana), getting use to the shift in elevation has proven a challenge as I slowly trudge uphill behind my teammates. But at least I make it, and at the end of the incline what do I do? Take a large gulp of water from my canister and it instantly makes me feel better. I can breathe again and it's like my muscles do a little happy dance.

I realize that water is a source that a lot of people take for granted. Many people (including myself) just don't drink it enough even when it's a simple thing of going to the refrigerator or the kitchen sink and taking a glass. Water is such an amazing thing, no wonder it's often called the life giver/source. Water is needed always, no matter if you're hiking up hills like me or just chilling in your bedroom watching Netflix.

Anyway, thanks for listening to my weird ass rant about water. Carry on, y'all. :)

Great post Mima.... Thats all I've been drinking is water for the past 2 years! (I will admit every now and then I miss a Great tall cup of Icy Coke!) lol...BUT.... Water is pretty awesome for sure. I always have a cup or bottle of it with me wherever I go, whether outside the house in my backpack, or from room to room in the house.

Such a great "finding" for youself! P.S....I'm still nosey about what type of job took you from the flats of Kansas to hiking the Moutainous hills of Montana!! ;) Whatever it is, I can only imagine all the great exercise you are getting!

Hehe, sure thing I'll let you know~ Basically I was hired on as a field technician for a program called the Montana Natural Heritage Program, a section of the Montana State Library. I work under the assistant ecologists who are doing field surveys of sagebrush vegetation and other plants all around Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest and BLM lands. Our crew goes to different points in either forested or rangeland areas and estimate the percent cover of various plants. It's pretty exciting and I get to see a lot of cool places. It's also kind of exhausting too because there's tons of walking involved and I always gotta keep my bear spray handy. Camping out for many days at a time is also an experience! :)

You've really only drank nothing but water for that long? I don't think I'd be able to resist other beverages! xD

Wow Mima... that sounds like a very interesting job.... Kuddos to you for being able to do it. I'm not much of the "out-door-sy" type when it comes to stuff like that (wilderness, camping etc...) lol.... I dont think I would last at it too long lol...But it sure does sound like quite the experience for you and sounds like you are getting in TONS of "Steps" and "Activity" in as well. Those are the types of jobs to have and hold onto if they work for you!

And, yes, I haven't had anything other than Water in that amount of time....Not necessarily by choice, but I find it might be better for my digestive system to just stick with water ~ It doesn't really bother me too often, unless I'm thinking of a nice "icy Coke" from time to time.. but oh well ;)

You are so right about that! That is honestly a really interesting job. It's funny how people can take such a simple thing for granted. It makes sense because our bodies are made up of 60% of water. Water flushes all of the toxins out of out bodies, and makes our skin all glowy. Really an amazing thing hah :P
