Nutrient Focus of the Day Pt. 4
Hi guys! I wanted to a series focusing on the benefits of each nutrient to help us as a community be mindful of the different kinds of nutrients and minerals in our body and how we can perhaps incorporate it into our diet for a healthier living!
Today's nutrient is: Vitamin A :)
Vitamin A is an important vitamin that plays many roles in our body including cell renewal, cell processes and specialized functions such as playing an important role in our eye.
Vitamin A is responsible for following bodily processes:
1. Eye health: A derivative of Vitamin A is required by our eye required for the vision pathway. Essentially, Vitamin A is very important for our eye health, and proper amounts lead to proper and healthy eye function.
2. Important functions in the immune system. Vitamin A plays important roles for proper immune function therefore proper amounts are needed (alongside many other vitamins and minerals such as Vitamin C and Zinc)
3. Important for cell cycling. Without proper vitamin A, proper cell recycling and renewal is inhibited. Therefore Vitamin A is essential for proper cell maintenance and healthy skin and general cell health.
-- Vitamin A is a now popular treatment for acne as it encourages cell renewal and immune functions!
Good sources of Vitamin A!
- Veggies (Carrots, Spinach and dark greens, sweet potatoes)
- Liver Meat (liver in animals have astonishingly high amounts of Vitamin A per serving and one meal can satisfy requirements for an entire day).
- Fish (Salmon, cod)
- Other Animal sources (Cheese, Eggs)
