🌿 My Healthy Living Journey: The Highs, the Lows, & Everything In Between 🌿
Progress over perfection, always

──────── ✧ ♡ ✧ ────────

Hi sweet friends! 💛
I wanted to open up a little and share my healthy living journey, not from a “perfect routine” place — but from a very human one.

There was a time in my life when I was very thin, very active, and felt naturally connected to my body. Movement felt easy, food felt simple, and being “healthy” didn’t feel like a constant decision — it just was. Looking back, I didn’t always realize how much balance I had then.

──────── ✧ ♡ ✧ ────────

Over time, life shifted. I gained some weight back, routines changed, and health slowly moved to the background. And with that came mixed emotions — frustration, comparison, guilt, and a lot of pressure (both from myself and from others). The kind of pressure that whispers “you should be doing better” instead of “you’re doing your best.”

This year, something clicked 🌱
Not because I hated myself — but because I wanted to feel stronger, happier, and more at home in my body again.

──────── ✧ ♡ ✧ ────────

So I made a choice. I joined a gym 🏋️‍♀️. I invested in a personal trainer. I decided to stop chasing quick fixes and start focusing on sustainable health and genuine happiness instead.

And let me be honest — it hasn’t been easy.

There have been days where I felt proud and energized, hitting milestones I never thought I could. And there have been days where workouts felt heavy, progress felt slow, and motivation completely disappeared. Some days I feel empowered. Other days I feel discouraged. Both exist — and both are real.

──────── ✧ ♡ ✧ ────────

There’s also the peer pressure. The comments. The expectations. The unspoken comparisons — from others and from myself. Learning to block out the noise and listen to my own body has been one of the hardest parts of this journey.

But through every high and low, I’m learning something important ✨
Healthy living isn’t about perfection.
It’s not about being “thin enough” or “strong enough.”
It’s about showing up — even when it’s messy, slow, or uncomfortable.

──────── ✧ ♡ ✧ ────────

I’m still learning. Still growing. Still figuring it out one step at a time. And that’s okay 🤍
This journey is teaching me patience, self-compassion, and resilience — and those matter just as much as physical progress.

──────── ✧ ♡ ✧ ────────

If you’re on your own path right now, just know this:
You’re not behind. You’re not failing. You’re becoming. 🌷

Thank you for letting me share 💛✨

@LexListens2025,

Well done, keep at it, celebrate the small victories...

Exercise has been my way of life, as a racing cyclist and coach until blood clots made it to risky, running has replaced it to a certain extent but I'm limited by the risk of further clots. This part particularly resonated with me :

Healthy living isn’t about perfection.
It’s not about being “thin enough” or “strong enough.”
It’s about showing up — even when it’s messy, slow, or uncomfortable.

Turn up and give it a go, listen to your body, some of my best workouts have been when I wasn't in the mood and nearly didn't go at all.

Awesome, always welcome to chat if it helps.

I slowed my pace a little today and settled for a consistent hour of walk/run intervals, enough to lift my heart rate, boost my blood circulation whilst easy enough to primarily burn fat and help control my weight.

Extremely boring but needs must, an episode of the 'Wise Mind: a DBT podcast' kept me mentally engaged.

Thank you for sharing your heart with us, Lex. It is really moving to hear how you have navigated these changes with so much honesty and self-compassion.

The way you describe that shift from things feeling "easy" to things requiring conscious effort is something so many people can relate to. It is not simple to start over or to change your focus when the world and our own internal voices can be so loud with expectations. Learning to block out that noise is a massive victory in itself.

I love that you are prioritizing feeling "at home" in your body rather than just hitting a specific number or look. That is such a powerful and healthy mindset shift. The days where motivation disappears are just as much a part of the journey as the high energy days. You are doing the hard work of showing up even when it feels messy, and that is where the real resilience is built.

Thank you for being such an inspiration and for reminding us all that we are "becoming." You are doing a wonderful job, and we are all rooting for you. <3
