Happy Easter! I have gained 15 -20 lbs in last few weeks, I think because of stress, I have mostly eaten junk food, but now it's hard to get out of this habit I used to not eat at bedtime, now , I am eating at all hrs after dinner, sometimes from 9 pm - to l 10am

@jr50

Hmmm.... 15-20lbs seems like alot of weight to gain in such a short amount of time over just a few weeks. Have you had a check-up lately with your physician? Just to be sure and to rule out any other issues as well.

Also,I can understand that its hard not to "snack" mind-lessly when your bored, or tired, or just not paying attention..... Have you tried to do other activities when you feel like you want to snack. Such as drink water to fill up your stomach and take the edge off that you are feeling hungry? Sometimes we are just thirsty, or dehydrated and our bodies need more water. Also, are you getting enough sleep? Not getting enough increases the "hungry hormone" that we all carry. Which causes us to eat more after not getting enough sleep........ Other things you can look at is asking yourself, when you start to feel "snackish", "do you really NEED to eat this"?!....."Am I really hungry, or am I just reaching for this because I'm bored"?!.... Try to redirect your thoughts by perhaps looking into different or new things and hobbies.

Last but not least, if you have done all these things and you are still feeling "snackish" look into perhaps choosing BETTER, or HEALTHIER snack options!... (Carrots... celery with peanut butter...., apples with peanut butter...Bananas... grapes......, airy snacks such as popcorn (without butter)... Thin pretzels,.....or bake your own by using sweet potatoes and make SWEET POTATO CHIPS, and cutting them "thinly", put some seasoning on them, and bake them in oven until they are crispy......OR Kale chips by doing the same thing. There are LOTS of other great options you can look at for healthier snacks by going to "Google or Pinterest" as well. Good luck to you!

*sigh* I'm having to deal with too much stuff outside my control. I can't find out about insurance coverage for my medication. The lab screwed up when I last went - I even questioned if everything was input. So I don't all all my results because they weren't all done.

It does sound like a portion of my intestine doesn't do it's job too effectively. No further testing on that is planned, just going to watch my levels over time for now.

@AffyAvo

Sorry to hear that Affy, I do hope that they get on that ball with that and do what they are supposed to do for you. Sounds like you at least have a little bit of knowledge on what might be going on. But yes, you should know the "full picture" of what is happening so it can be dealt with. Let us know how it all works out.

@PoliteOcean The missing test is separate from the possible intestinal problem unfortunately.

Later response to this, but...

School has been so busy lately! It's taken up a lot more of my time and many of my exercise habits have slipped. I'm trying to find a balance, but it's difficult. I wish I could study while exercising, but I've found that impossible for me.

In terms of diet and drinking water I've been doing very well! That's my positive for the week.

My goal for the next 2 weeks (exam weeks) is to exercise for 30 min 3 times a week. It's less than I would like, but it's realistic for an incredibly stressful time.

@DancingAlong

Its great that you have been doing well with Eating Well and Water habits! Considering you are having a stressful time with exam week (you and alot of others)... I think its amazing that you are able to stay on track with that!...

I remember my Nursing School days, and snacks were a HUGE part of all that... frown But, you dont' have to be perfect with it all, and I think you are handling it very well by keeping up with what you are able.

And its awesome that you have set a plan for yourself. THREE days is better than NO days, Right!?! So thats whats important... and even if its only one or two days that you are able to fit in, at least you did it!... Just take care of "you", thats the "most" important thing.
