**This past week was Very challenging to say the least..... I was still "reeling" a little bit from the message I received last week of 2 of my classes getting "cut" from the schedule at one of my Fitness Facilities.... I'm still trying to put things into some perspective about that (especially after 2 years of being there)..., and trying to figure out how I should proceed moving forward. With so much going on around us at this time, its a little difficult to try to figure things out at the moment. Needless to say, I kind-of let my "Feelings" get the better of me this past week. I did Not stay on track with my meals or meal choicess. It was kind of a little "spiral" for a few days. I felt a little "lost" and in a "Funk"... And I really dis-like feeling that way. (I'm sure nobody does)...Its been difficult to get back on track with my eating this week... (but, I did manage to at least keep up with sleep, water, and activity). I guess I realized how much I just missed being around those with "like-minded" goals, and "working" on our goals together in a group fitness surrounding. Personally I need that "push" and the friendships that I made.... Leading and instructing classes, keeps me on "top" of that. .... And then I felt even worse when I know there are SOO many other more important issues going on in the world around me, or those who have it alot worse of course!

**It hasn't been easy staying or getting back on track with things this week... I'm still trying to get my "head out of the clouds". And hopefully as I move through this weekend and into a the New week ahead, things will be more clear and more peaceful. I did however have some great "much needed" quality time with some of my ZUMBA pals over ZOOM chat a few days ago... So that lifted my spirits a bit.

**This weekend I don't really have any plans for Mothers Day... My own Son will be working, so It will be nice If I'm able to even get a "glimpse" of him this weekend. I do intend to visit my own Mother of course. I'm just hoping that Mothers Day I myself will be more focused to start a new week. And to hopefully just enjoy the day itself in whatever we decided to do!.... Hopefully I can also fit in some activity over the weekend with walking and some Zumba Livestream classes on ZOOM.

ENJOY THE WEEKEND~ STAY SAFE~ yes

@PoliteOcean , I felt motivated reading your post. I too, miss my ' like minded ' friends who exercise with me regularly . The energy , vibrant feeling and the fun of group exercise has always given me the extra oomph and fantastic way to relax my mind. Anyway, Now ,I still exercise on my balcony and the rising sun and blue sky has become my motivation now. By the way , Happy Mother's Day to you.

Thank you! I'm glad that my post motivated you in some sort of way! (Despite that I may not have seemed very motivated in it?!) lol... But I'm so happy to hear that.

I so totally agree that the energy and the "vibrant" feeling of it all is what keeps me going and motivated! Whether taking a class with a friend or teaching it!

I'm so glad that you are finding "YOUR" strength and motivation with beautiful blue skies and and the rising sun. That sure does sound lovely! I actually found a "new" outdoor space to walk or even sit and mediate. Its a local park that I just stumbled upon. I plan to go there more and hopefully get more inspired by it as well. Its so beautiful and "Green" and the blue skies surrounding it all makes it that much more motivating.

Great job to you at continuing to find your motivators and continuing to stay on top of your exercises! Keep up the great work!

The lockdown has already ended where I live, so my family's restaurant is open now. Howver, the number of covid cases is rising exponentially in my area, so that really concerns me. However, my family has no choice but to work. It is upsetting that other people are not doing their part in keeping the community safe, but at the end it's up to the individual to maintain ethics and compassion.

On a happier note, you're about to go back to work! <3

And you're learning to do a headstand/handstand? Good luck! I don't have the flexibility for that <3

Hi LinearWaves,

Good to hear that your week was alright and you keep on trying to be productive though you are hard with yourself. Yes, it's hard to be really productive but that's surely not your fault.

I do share your concerns regarding what could be an early end of lockdowns, as I'm writing this is clear that some Governments have had to stop or as some said "Apply emergency break" on the re opening plans. Let's hope science and common sense prevail.

Ted talks are certainly entertaining, a good way to pass the time. Mother's day is later where you live? Maybe conditions will be better and you can plan something nice ahead.

Have a good week!

Yes lockdown is quite an easy thing to do but the end of lockdown is much trickier. I sure hope we can rely on common sense but well, we all know its lacking in many people unfortunately…

Take care!

@LinearWaves

Hey there Waves!

Sorry to hear that you felt your week wasn't the most productive either... But I guess we shouldn't expect them to always go that way especially during challenging times such as these. I'm glad to hear that for the most part that it went pretty "alright" for you as you stated. Studying for our 'Own knowledge" is a good thing. The more we learn the more we know, Right?!... So good for you!

I totally understand and can empythize and relate to your feelings about the pending "ending" of your lockdown. I had all the same feelings and mixed emotions. I'm sure most of us probably struggle with that (for lack of better term)... All the "what-ifs" and "un-knowns" of what will happen next once we do come out of it. Things are still slowly re-opening here. It just depends on the business and if they are ready to do so. I too (as many I know) have had the feeling of "is this all too soon, and will it cause a 2nd wave of this"?! But what can we do, but wait it out and see how it will all play out. We can only continue to do our best to take care of ourselves and do and practice what is safe for "us".... I'm glad that for you that you will be able to get to go back to your own place soon!.. I know how challenging this has been for you staying with your mom. I hope your move back all works out well for you!

I'm proud of you to hear that you will continue to keep up with your usual stuff! And that you are still motivated to keep going! Thats very inspiring.

That is so very interesting to hear that you don't celebrate the Same "Mothers Day"?! But like you said, on a much more positive note, you will now still have PLENTY of time left!! lololol cheeky

Thank you so much for checking in , and continuing to keep us up to date on how things are going for you, and how things are going "around" you as well!... Continut to keep up the great work that you are doing, and continue to stay healthy!.. 0h! and get ready to start shopping for that Mothers Day gift while theres still time!! llol wink

It seems pretty hard to keep a productive space. Ive been trying to read on tips to stay productive and everything, but it doesnt help to only rely on tasks you know dont matter much.

I guess its hard to see that things are finally coming back to normal, yet this normal is not quite satisfying as its still so full of uncertainty, caution and risks… But well, its like a sort of recovery, we have to take things step by step, one day at a time!

Thanks for your kind words, theyre much appreciated as always!

**Hey Everyone! How have you been doing this week?

Mixed. I've found it really hard to keep going this week, but its improving as of yesterday. Yesterday was really productive. Today, not so much, but it was extremely enjoyable. I played video games most of the day.

**How has the First week of May treated you?! What is One positive thing you are looking forward to this month?

The first week of May has been pretty good. The governor extended the stay-at-home order, but has reopened some things for recreation purposes outside. My county may petition the governor to let us go to Phase 2. I'm missing people and I know its risky, but I really want a haircut. I'm technically supposed to be looking for a job, but my hosts also don't want me going out, so I'm weighing risks with the risk of brining something home with me.

One positive thing I'm looking forward to this month is marathoning podcasts. 'Happier' with Gretchen Rubin and 'Planet Money' by NPR. Also our library system has offered a Spring Reading program that is actually more of a Spring Activity program and I started getting into that yesterday.

**May is "National Physical Fitness and Sports Month~... What is "One" good/positive thing that you can "DO" for yourself in the week ahead? What is something helpful or positive that you can do or share with someone else in the coming week ahead? What is one helpful tip that you could share with one another today to help keep someone going during this time?! What has helped you?

In the week ahead I can start walking for half an hour to an hour a day outside and using the recumbant bike downstairs for cardiovascular exercise. I'm not sure what I can do to really help people. I can clean the guest bathroom and the kitchen tiles, which are beginning to look a little dirty I guess.

What I'm saying to myself is rather religious or superstitious in nature so I'm not sure it will help everyone. Kind of "I am held by the universe and to the universe I will return" and that all this is just a natural part of nature. I'm not talking about throwing away masks or not wearing gloves or that I won't get it, but acceptance that a good chunk of this is beyond my control and that I will just deal with what is in my sphere of influence. And the acknowledgement that even when I don't seem to feel stressed, I, and everyone else around on the planet probably are. Its important to cut myself slack and be understanding of the people around me.

**MOTHERS DAY is on Sunday!.. What are your plans for this day with your "Mother/Mother-Figure" in your life? If you are a mother yourself, how would you like to spend your special day?!

I've sent Mother's Day e-cards to my Mom and Grandmother. My sister and I don't really have plans, although I have a neice now. I will probably make another phone call to my Mom tomorrow on Mother's Day.

**What have been your "Highlights" Or "Struggles" over this past week?

My highlights have been talking to people online and helping a friend with the game I play online. My struggles have been keeping motivated to do things, when it seems like the only person around who is going to notice is me.

@AvidGamer293

Hello AvidGamer,

There are good days and not so good days, "Mixed" is a good valid answer. Playing video games is a valid way to spend time.

The badly needed haircut is something I (and many of us I guess) can relate very much. It's wise to be cautious and wait a little more before taking unncesary risks. Listening to podcasts is another good way to learn and keep informed. I am familiar with " Planet money" but I've never heard "Happier", what's that podcast about?

User Profile: AvidGamer293

@Traveller8

"Happier with Gretchen Rubin" is a podcast by Gretchen Rubin and Elizabeth Kraft. Gretchen Rubin is the author of 'The Happiness Project and several other books. Its basically Life Hacks (what makes people happy), Personality Tips (knowing who you are better by contrasting different things) and self-improvement topics. Theres Q&A and a little personal reflection on their week in each podcast (a little over 20 minutes for the whole thing)

You can catch her podcast on Spotify or on her website where it can be streamed or downloaded. I guess its a niche interest. I'm a self-help junkie, but I really do like it.

**Hey Everyone! How have you been doing this week?

This week has been "blah". Nothing super exciting happened and I don't have strong feelings about it.

**How has the First week of May treated you?! What is One positive thing you are looking forward to this month?

Looking forward to celebrating my mom on mother's day as well as virtually celebrating a lot of birthdays in the family.

I am hoping to get involved in more physical activity even if that just means dancing alone in my room to my favorite music. :p

Something to keep someone going: You are doing the best that you possibly can in this situation. Don't compare your progress, your recovery, your timing to anyone else. Everyone's circumstances are different so just focus on yourself and know that what you are doing it enough.

**MOTHERS DAY is on Sunday!.. What are your plans for this day with your "Mother/Mother-Figure" in your life? If you are a mother yourself, how would you like to spend your special day?!

I am not a mother so I will be spending the day celebrating my own mother. We also hope to make a trip to the cemetery to visit my grandmother. This will be our first mother's day without her here and I think my dad is taking it particularly hard. It's just a lot for him to not have her here for mother's day or his big milestone birthday.

**What have been your "Highlights" Or "Struggles" over this past week?

This week felt very... neutral. Nothing good or bad happened to me.

Hey there..

So sorry to hear that your week was kind of "blah" feeling~ Despite that I'm glad to hear that you were looking forward to celebrating your Mom for Mothers day as well as other family "virtually"!... That sounds like a lot of fun and a nice way to get together during this time for sure!

Its great that you are looking to get involved in more physical fitness, and just remember that no matter what you are doing, whether dancing in the room by yourself, stepping in place or whatever you decide to do, IT ALL STILL COUNTS!! And it beats doing nothing or remaining sedentary. So you are doing great no matter what you choose for your activity! Dancing is an awesome workout.

Thank you so much for your "motivating" tips as well!.. They were very well thought out, and very inspiring! Thank you for sharing them with us!

I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother. I know how very hard that can be.. My own grandmother passed away several years ago right before Mothers Day... So it know how difficult that can feel. And My condolences to your and your family and your father especially. I do hope that he ends up having a wonderful birthday ahead when its time to celebrate him.

A "neutral" week sounds decent!.. Its better than having a bad week right?! Thats the way I would look at it if was myself. I can deal with "neutral" lol. I hope that you enjoyed the weekend and the rest of the week ahead. Take care and thank you so much for checking in this week to let us know how you've been doing!

**How has the First week of May treated you?! What is One positive thing you are looking forward to this month? - It's been okay. I've been sad because my boyfriend and I were going to go on a trip this week.

- I'd like to keep going for walk. I've been keeping up with my friends and checking in on them. A tip I would give, is it's okay to reach out and talk, It doesn't have to be deep and personal but just reaching out and talking helps.

**MOTHERS DAY is on Sunday!.. What are your plans for this day with your "Mother/Mother-Figure" in your life? If you are a mother yourself, how would you like to spend your special day?! - I really don't have any plans other then to see my mom. It's not something we really celebrate.

**What have been your "Highlights" Or "Struggles" over this past week?

A highlight has been that I got to see my parents and my cat. A struggle has been being back in my hometown has brought the PTSD on and flashbacks.

Hey there.. Sorry to hear that things didn't work out regarding your trip with your boyfriend. Hopefully with things starting to reopen again that you will be able to "re-plan" your trip accordingly and still be able to enjoy at a later date.

I'm glad to hear that you still like to plan to get in walking, and that you are keeping up with your friends and checking in on them. Its good to keep "connections" during this time!... And I agree that just keeping connections open, reaching out and talking to others can be very helpful. (I just did a ZOOM call with some gym friends a few days back and realized just how much it was needed).

Sorry to hear that you had some bad feelings when returning to home, I understand that not everyone has the best childhoods, or the fondest memories of growing up somewhere. But despite that, its really nice that you were able to see your parents and your cat! Pets can be so therapuetic for us.

Thank you so much for checking in and sharing your week with us this week!

I'm late to this thread! Sorry!

heart The first week of May was hard!! I have trouble with my ovaries and it was my monthly, so I was in a lot of pain and I didn't get anything done all week... but! I had a blast hanging out with my boyfriend (who's like, my best friend) and I'm so lucky to have him to support me and to have a good time with!

heart I can make sure to eat healthy! I made a promise with my boyfriend to eat better (the quarantine was an excuse to slack!). I'm also gonna be sure to excerise more! I really wanna buy a jump rope. I feel like if I jump rope for like, even just 10 minutes a day, I'll be putting in some good cardio. Plus then I can learn tricks and stuff, but, I don't know...

Here's my tip: Small steps are not just okay, they're essential! It's okay to have big goals, but they're feel insurmountable if you don't start with a very simple, very small step!

heart I called my Oma and my mom and gave them my love! We can't be together right now, but it was wonderful to hear their voices.

Hey there!

So sorry to hear that you were having some challenging female moments and was in pain. I'm sure that was very difficult. But its so great that you have a wonderful boyfriend that cares for you and that is supportive of you.

I'm so proud of you to hear that you want to make sure to eat healthy! And that you are looking to possibly incorporate more activity. Jump roping can be fun.. I haven't done it in years though. But it was always fun to try new tricks. Not sure if I would still be as coordinated doing them now at my age. LOLOL... But go for it!

And YES! I love your advice!.. SMALL STEPS can add up over time to even Bigger goals!.. If we take small steps and start slower, then things won't seem 'overwhelming'! Which is why some people might either Never start at all, OR even give up too quickly!.. Great suggestion. Thank you for sharing!

How lovely that you were able to reach out and talk to both your Oma and Mom. Thats awesome. I 'm glad that you were able to enjoy that time with them for Mothers Day!.

Thank you for checking in this week and keeping us up to date on things and letting us know how you've been doing!
