**ANY & ALL NEWBIES!! YOU ARE WELCOME TO SHARE!!
**This past week has been another busy and full-filling week... I've kept busy, kept Anxiety low for the most part, kept on track with eating and workouts and tracking... continued to stay the same with sleep (some nights better than others on hours slept), and I've continued to do Ok with water intake... I continue to Teach my Zumba classes and slowly starting to add in a POUND Fitness class... continuing to work on and learn the choreo, and manage to learn a few songs here and there and teach a few at the end of each Zumba Class. Hoping to get these students ready for the future class. Just continuing to work on staying on track with all of the above while also finding time for some "Balance" in it all as well, including "ME" time...
**The weather has gotten off track again with rainy days here and there, but we get a few hints of sunshine in between the clouds, which allows for me to continue to get out and get my walks in at least Three Nights a week between Zumba classes and workouts. What I'm looking forward to is The Pool will be getting ready to open up this weekend for the Memorial Day holiday!.. However, it will be at least a week or two I'm sure until I'll be able to get in that water waiting for it to warm up a bit. But I'm ready to get back to some swimming.
**Today is actually going to be a Rest Day for me... No plans to go anywhere of significance or plans to do much.....I will have the entire week off next week from "teaching" Zumba classes, and looking forward to just relaxing a bit, spending time with my family, and just working on some new songs and choreo for when I start back the following week.... And also getting my shutters & porch painted, so we can actually enjoy our front and back decks more this summer (and start grilling as well)~
HOPE EVERYONE ELSE'S WEEK HAS GONE WELL~ ![]()
@PoliteOcean
Oh wow, youre doing so much physical activity! I cant keep up just reading it all! 😱 but it sounds like youre passionate about Zumba and POUND and casual walks, so thats awesome! Keep going at it :D
Swimming! Whats your favourite style? :p the weather doesnt sound too good again, why cant it stay the same for a while?! Glad to know you can still do your walls though- walking by the lake? :)
Ooh, why do you have the week off? It sounds super chilled though, as well as today! Get some good rest and relaxation in! I hope you have a good rest of your week! xx
@rebecca947
Hey Rebecca! Yes, I have to keep moving.. because I just have that body type that if I try to take off too much time from it, that I can easily gain un-wanted weight. And I'm getting older lol... So as we age we have to make sure we are keeping up with regular activity lol.....
But I tend to stick with things that I "enjoy" or else it would be difficult for me to even want to do any activity at all... As far as the walks, I have not been able to get to the Lake almost the entire week because it can stay pretty wet over there after a rainfall..... so I like to wait until it thouroghly dries up so my puppy won't get all dirty! lol....
But "my" walks, tend to be in the evening throughout our neighborhood.... where I can walk alot of hills and get in that "interval" walking.. Tends to burn more calories and such and makes me sweat more which I love to do when working out. Makes me feel more accomplished in my workouts...... There was honestly a time, where I would just sit around ALL day... either at home or at work... I NEVER used to exercise before finding Zumba in 2011.. I would try to start something, and then quit a day later. Like seriously. If someone would have told me "then" that I would EVER be a Fitness instructor I would have laughed in their faces! lol.....
And I have the next week off, because the place where i teach at in the mornings will be closed for "Painting"... so the whole area will be closed. So that gives me a nice little "break" for a change where I can work on new songs and choreo and hopefully go back feeling "refreshed"! And ready to continue to try to motivate! However, I will intend to go to "others" classes! That break won't stop me from continuing to "Move"! ![]()
Keep watching my diet and exercise has been consistent over the month of May. I try to make the best of the wam months with plenty of fresh air. Yesterday was first day of swimming. Pool water was a little cold at 75 degrees but air was warm in the 80s. Same weather today and then a cool down for rest of weekend. By mid June swimming will be my main exercise until mid September. Swimming is very relaxing and gives a good workout with little stress on your body. Enjoy your weekend
@sail46
Great Check in Sail!...
And I know what you mean... I can't wait to start back to swimming as well... I know that water will be a little chilly for a few more weeks though. But yes I try to get it in almost daily through the summer as long as the weather cooperates. It is very relaxing, refreshing.. and I too love that its easy on the joints while giving you a GREAT workout.. I personally like to "tread" in the pool, and do "Sprints, High-knees", and jumping jacks... All the things that I don't necessarily like to do on "land"! lol.....
Thanks so much for checking in this week and letting us know how things are going for you! Have a great weekend!
This was my last week of school. It was filled with eating lots of cake and candy, from school celebrations and gifts. I am heavier than I have been since I lost a huge amount of weight about 5 years ago. I hope to put the brakes on that trend while I am away from all the constant stream of junk at school. I've spent 2 days eating well so far. I have lots of plans for being active this summer, so if I can control my eating and keep at the physical activity, I might finally lose some weight and get back where I was in December. My aches and pains continue, but nothing really terrible this week. If I spend more time on my PT exercises too, I might have less pain this summer!
@SadMe70
Congrats on finally being done with this year's School season...... Now you can continue to focus on yourself more!... I think you've got some really awesome goals here for yourself. You know what you're doing and not doing and where the issues are, you see it, and you know where you can make the changes to improve!
It sounds like you are making some great plans for yourself this summer to get back on track with things.. and to get to a place where you want to be and feel comfortable again with your progress. You have a great plan set on how to go about things and get them done. I believe you know where to start and what to do to get there, and you can do this!.... Just continue to plan, prep and prepare! You've got this! Continue to keep up the great work, and just enjoy your summertime off from all the added stress and "treats"! Now that things are calming down a bit, I have not doubts that you can continue to succeed! Thanks so much for checking in this week and sharing your week and your thoughts with us! Always great to hear from you! Continue to let us know how things are going and progressing for you!
@PoliteOcean Thank you! I am feeling hopeful that I can get some things under control this summer.
How do you feel this month has been for you "Overall"?
**What things are you looking forward to as we approach a "New" month ahead?!
**What do you feel have been the biggest "high-lights" or "changes" for you over the past "MONTH"?
This month started out as somewhat defeated and deflated and has ended up as a winner and full. In fact, I started back at 7cups after a hiatus to deal with many stressful issues this month. I was also still stuck in excess weight from last year's broken and sprained ankles.
Last week, after a tip from a friend, I started focusing only on deep breathing several times a day (well, positive emotions and all of that too, but the single focus for my digestion was deep breathing) and in the first three days with no changes, I lost three-and-a-half pounds. Huge when you realize that the scale had not moved anywhere but UP for the last 18 months. After that, I started a healthy diet and this morning got on the scale for the first time I am in the 220s! Not only did I lose 6 pounds last week, but I also lost 13.5 inches, mostly around my belly. I now have belief, real belief, now that my body will get this excess off consistently so that in half a year or so that soon enough I can get back into my smaller clothes. (Before the accident, I was almost ready to move into size 14 - the 16s were almost too big. Then, I had to buy 18s, then a couple of 20s. Each one of those size defeats was a hit emotionally, as you well know. Well, my body - amazing body - mortal body, quite vulnerable sometimes as the last several months have proven - is getting ready to move back into the slimmer clothes.)
That means that I am truly looking forward to June. For the first time in literally months and like the greenness growing outside on the maples, my body is able to grow in health and transform, shedding the excessing weight. I am looking forward to more of the greenness outside and inside my own body. I am ever grateful for this 7cups community, where everyone is working towards their health goals in supportive comradery. It is a blessing to have this safe and affirming place to share.
Oh, and my youngest granddaughter is six years old today! Am cooking all day in preparation for our now traditional family Iris birthday party on Memorial Day, complete with barbeque and pool party at my apartment complex.
Warm blessings,
Oak

P.S. In proper context, during the gain months, I was still weight and cardio training, as well as trying to stick to a healthy diet and avoid the *&**)@ candy bowl at the office. But the scale still wouldn't move, which I knew was cortisol stuck in my body - unhealthy stress that had built up in my body since my husband's death six years ago and all the changes in finances and location that brought, such as chronic anxiety, panic attacks, and dealing with abusive and harmful managers at the university. I dealt with the abuse at work situation with OEO and HR, which was stressful in itself, but after two months those people are acting professionally now and even pleasant. My "brave" action helped the entire department but what a toll it took on my body. During that time is when I put 7cups on hold. Now, the hope is that when major stressors like this happen in the future (because they will) I can deal with them in the moment and not let things build up to a toxic level. My new motto: Be The Zebra (more on that later).
@oakhenge
Its so great to see you check in this week!... Glad to see that you are overcoming the obstacles that seemed to have stood in your way for a while , and that you feel you are finally getting back on track a bit.
I still think its quite incredible what you stumbled upon on the advice of your friend.. It is really awesome for you to have found a technique that is showing you progress! I too tried what you stated, and notice that my numbers budged on my weigh-in this past weekend as well! I am going to continue with that suggestions that you shared with us!
I can totally relate to you as well in what you are saying about the weight, the clothing sizes etc... (you and I will have to have a "personal" chat one day in pm's about our unique similarities! lol)........ It is great that you are making the progress that you desire for yourself. And its even greater to see you back here at 7cups! I was wondering where you had gone and where you have been!.....You were surely missed!
I hope that you (and your grand-daughter) have had a lovely weekend and that she enjoyed her birthday! As well as the holiday itself. BBQ and pool parties sound fun and amazing... We had decent weather for the weekend, but today (Memorial Day) is kind of dreary with some minor drizzle and dampness..... We always seem to get this type of weather for Memorial Day.. Not sure why~ But oh well...its still been a nice "Lazy Day" instead! lol...
Also thank you for sharing your experience with Stress, anxiety, cortisol levels and the toxicity of it all, .... as well as the weight issues and "HOW" you are dealing with it, and what has been working for you!.. It has really been an "EYE-OPENER" to say the very least!... And its such beneficial information!....Glad to have you back, glad to hear that things are going better for you at work as well... .... and can't wait to hear more about the "BE THE ZEBRA"!
Thanks so much for checking in this week, and sharing and letting us know how things have been going!
@PoliteOcean
Deep breathing working for you a bit too! Yay! You don't have as much toxins to move as me I bet. Still, here's to the breath, a wonder that it is, and all the new oxygen our cells need to do their best work for us.
Blessings this weekend and this coming week.
@oakhenge
Well Oak as a life-long sufferer of Anxiety, as well as PTSD, ... my life has been filled with more than its fair share of toxic energy, vibes, stress and all of the above.... Only recently since joining 7cups and developing my Faith, am I finally making some progress in it all.....
Its easy for alot of us to "hide" behind the "mask of 7cups"... but none of us could truly know what the other is really going through, or what we might have been through in our personal lives.
One of my mottos is "Day by Day"~ ( and I will continue to be mindful of the "breath" as well).....
Blessings to you also in the coming week ahead~
