**ANY & ALL "NEWBIES" ARE WELCOME TO SHARE!!**
**This past week has gone well... "Zipped" right by yet again...~ I've been continuing to stay busy, (sometimes more busy than I'd like to be or used to being in awhile)... continued to stay on track with Food, Water and Activity...Got off track a little again with sleep, but not by much...Continue to work on that nightly.
**Today is the "FIRST" DAY of the Fall Season where I am.... I admit, I do Love the Fall, but once again, I like Summer More... and will be sad to see it be gone....The weather here continues to be really beautiful this past week... so I've been able to continue with walking Twice/daily, 3-4 times a week with my mom (and sometimes my husband).. While continuing to keep up with teaching my classes. No more swimming of course. With today being Fall, there seems to be a "Weather pattern" change for the "up-coming" week ahead.. Some cloudy days with some possible rain. And although temps will still be warm and mild, it won't be as "Hot/Humid". Also My mom will be out of town the entire week. I don't like to walk alone as its not motivating to me at all.... So.. I have already made a schedule of different workouts and classes I can take, so I won't get off track in the mornings while she's away.
**The Fall festivals have already started last weekend, and are "under-way" in full-force. I was supposed to go to one today, but, My husband will be out of town for the day, and that's something we'd like to do together.. Could possibly go Sunday when he's back, but it will depend on the weather and if there is time. Supposed to get someone to come to our house Sunday to look at cutting down some trees that I've been wanting to get rid of, so that I can entertain the idea of possibly having a "Pool" again. It was just too tedious to have one with so many trees around us. And it will make our yard look alot nicer in my opinion.
**Today is my weekly rest day, I don't plan to do much except maybe get some things done around the house, and work on some new Songs and Choreo for my classes (since my hubby won't be around). I may walk with my mom (if I can manange to wake up that early) if not, oh well, Will continue to utilize a day of rest~
ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND EVERYONE~![]()
@PoliteOcean
Heya, Ocean! Havent checked in for a few weeks. The past few weeks werent great, Ill just say that. Mentally wasnt doing too well. Now Im getting there, halfway on the mend- more work needs to be done though. Add that on top of other things calls for a very hectic and exhausting few weeks! Not been my favourite time, but Ill deal with it.
I have a new job, as a checkout chick! :p ahh, fun times calling myself that haha got called into work with 30mins notice a ed nights back, that was an experience! 🤣 it was a fun night though. So far, work has been good! Todays shift was hmm ok. The start didnt go too well, but then it went back to normal. Had a few grumpy customers, wasnt anything I did though thankfully. Just came grumpy! Met a girl at work today who is going to the same high school I went to! Two years younger than me, so cool haha we talked a lot.
I started exercising again yesterday! Finally, the time has come! Exercising with a friend, so accountability is checked off. Its fun, but Im sore haha Ill have to get used to it again. My eating pattern hasnt been amazing though, so Ill have to work on that, as well as eating healthier. Sleep has been OK, uni break for a week so I get to catch up on some much needed sleep!
Im living the spring weather at the moment!!! It feels so good, and reminds me constantly that summer is coming haha
Overall, been an exhausting few weeks, havent spent much time on my listener account unfortunately. Hoping to be better soon, and reply to what feels like a thousand PMs! 🤣
Not sure if Ill checkin again next week, so in case, i hope you have a good rest of the month and take care! ❤️ Thanks for being awesome, Ocean :) xx
@rebecca947
Hey there Rebecca! Its great to hear from you this week... I know you stated that you might be taking a bit of a break to get caught up on your "real life" outside of here. We all need that time and to have that time away to gain focus.
Sorry to hear that things have not been going well for you mentally... That is always a challenge and struggle for sure. Its great that you are making your way back though. That is always a good feeling.
A new job?!?! Sounds like an exciting time for you?!..That is very great for you!.....I know it can be rather hectic for you between both work and school.... it can be a challenge sometims to find balance between the two. But sounds like you are doing rather well in your new endeavor?! I know it can be challenging to deal with customers.. I started out in the retail business and it certainly wasn't easy dealing with grumpy or unreasonable customers. Sounds like you may have handled it well though?! Also how cool that you met someone who went to the same school and made a new connection!
Its great that you started exercising again, and have found a friend to help hold you accountable! It certainly helps. Sounds like all of that is coming together for you.
Also how nice that you are heading into Spring-Time. I think its really crazy how we are heading into Fall and you are in a whole different season. Kind of crazy how that all works.
Thanks for checking in this week, good to hear from you. Thanks for keeping us up-to-date and letting us know whats been going on in your part of the world! Take care!
We are getting so many days with snow. Had a fair bit yesterday morning, it was all gone by the evening and now things are covered again.
Really not feeling so happy about it.
I did finally make it back to the gym. Not all that happy with where I'm at right now, but happy I was able to make it back.
@AffyAvo
Whoa!!! You are getting snow already??!! Wow... that seems so incredibly early?! Is that early for you up there, or is it normally a time of year when it snows?
Its great that you were able to make it back to the gym. (Although I do know its much different for you personally) ,but it is challenging for sure to get off-track and feel "side-lined" when you do, or when things come up and happen. And then we got to try yet once again to get back to the point where we "were" feeling like we were doing well and accomplishing things....
This journey (for some more than others) is such a roller-coaster. But its great that you are at the point where you can keep working on "you" again. Hopefully it will continue for you.
Thanks for checking in this week and letting us know how things have been going!
@PoliteOcean I would say about half the time we would have snow in September.
The number of days we have had snow this month is unusual though. I also think the amount has been high too. In the fall sometimes you see some flakes in the air but none on the grass but multiple mornings there's been a pretty thick layer. Nothing that needed to be shovelled yet at least, other parts of the province haven't been that lucky.
Keeping up with exercise. Did slip a little with healthy eating for a few days, but I am back on track. I think the cool weather increase your appetite. I cant believe its Fall. Only 179 days until Spring. I actually like the change of seasons and cool weather is good for exercise. The crisp air is very relaxing to breathe. The beaches are empty and you can breathe in the salt air when walking. Beach walking is on a flat surface, but the sound of the waves and salt air are very relaxing. Swimming was a great exercise that burns a lot calories. I do miss swimming. Spent the day doing yard work which I find relaxing. Fall cleanup of the garden shed and yard. Was surprised I did 10,000 steps just working around the yard. The then did another 10,000 steps up and down hills. I think around 20,000 steps was a record for one day. Enjoy your weekend.
I'm finally feeling good about the exercise I did. I was planning on going to the gym this morning but I got a message from my trainer about 5 minutes before I was going to leave. I really didn't want to have to skip this week but I don't know yet what is going on with her and the class I could do tomorrow was empty so that didn't look promising. I also have some for the weekend so I really wanted to stick to today.
I looked into the rec centers, was hoping that one of the 4 closest ones would have a Zumba Gold class today, no luck with that but I found a class for 'older active adults'. The instructor is probably the total opposite of me in many ways, I wouldn't be surprised if she's into crystal healing. I had fun though. Some of the movements were a bit bizarre. If this is the type of thing I did all the time my strength gains would be incredibly slow. Consdering what the last few months have been like though, I was happy to have something easier and hopefully I won't feel as crappy as I was expecting to feel tonight/tomorrow from my usual class.
I did buy a 5 card pass as I can use it at any of the city centers and has a long expiration time, I have a community membership and I had to buy a minimum of 5 for the discount associated with that.. The person who was teaching Zumba Gold isn't going to keep her Zumba certificiation and it looks like I'll have trouble fitting in with the new things she is offering instead come January. So this will give me more flexibility with picking some classes this winter.
@AffyAvo
Sounds like a pretty decent check-in overall.... even though some of the things weren't what you were wanting... Thats great that you got yourself a 5class pass....Good time to try things out and see what you like and what you don't like and how things go!...
Why is the Zumba Instructor not keeping her license anymore? What "new" things is she looking to start offering?...
@PoliteOcean She was only teaching 1 Zumba Gold class/week, so keeping the certification to be allowed to teach it meant she could be losing money. The regular classes she does is High Fitness. She is doing the Beachbody coaching already, the new classes she will offer are ones that go with that. I can't remember the specifics, but Insanity is one and Piyo was another, there may have ben others. Insanity is clearly out for me (well I could look into it more, but I remember hearing about it when it was really popular years ago before I had all this stuff going on and I wasn't even interested then into doing something like that). Piyo is a maybe, but I feel like it's basically a replacement for the circuit type stuff rather than complementing it. I did a free beachbody trial before I found my personal trainer, I think piyo was something I had tried.
@AffyAvo
I see....
Yeah, Insanity is a little crazy... I guess it can be modified like anything else.. I like more action in my workouts (Meaning I like to move and sweat and things like Yoga for me would never be a first choice...)..., but nothing too crazy! And insanity for me is one of them crazies!.. LOL....
Piyo may be a decent one for you to try... I used to have the Dvd's and really wanted to try it because I heard so many good things about it.. I think I may still have them somewhere. I had so much Beachbody stuff. But found that it was a little on the slower side than I liked, and doing it by myself wasn't helping me to stay motivated in it either lol....
But, With an actual instructor teaching it, it might be something that you could really modify for yourself.. In the Dvd's that I have it has someone modifiying alot. Its a cross between "Yoga & Pilates". So don't count yourself out on that one, and perhaps see if its something that might be another good choice for you?
@PoliteOcean Yeah, I think Piyo is something I can do. For adding in something 2nd though I wanted something a little more cardio based and less overall fitness. Piyo from what I recall is a little bit too much strength based, considering I do little cardio with the circuit aspect - especially when not a true circuit.
I will probably do a few piyo classes, but more sporadically than regularly.
I know I can do Zumba Gold classes with the passes, I just need to figure out scheduling with my current gym. That or I could actually use the row machine I got. I did get it moreso for the winter than summer. Weather is changing anyway though, time to start using it more.
I did actually jump on a rower before the class, as I wasn't sure what they would do for a warmup and it is so good for my feet.
**How have you all been doing since the last check-in?! I'm not sure I completed the last check in but I've been kinda stressed because I'm taking on some writing work. I need the confidence back though so I'm giving it a shot. It may not be much money but at least I'm doing something so I feel better about myself. Plus, it's a good distraction and I always learn a lot. Get to write about some pretty cool topics.
**Can you Name some things that have been going well for you this past week? How did this or can this contribute to your Healthy Living Journey? A really positive thing that's happened is being social and leaving the house. I don't do it often and it was really hard but it's good exposure and makes me really proud of myself.
**What made you the "Happiest" this past week? What are you most grateful for? I'm most grateful for my time with my boyfriend. He's wonderful and makes me feel so safe and unconditonally accepted and loved.
**How many of you are "ringing in" the FALL Season today? If not, what season is it where you are?
**What have been your "highlights" this past week? What are your weekend plans ahead? Writing articles has been huge, also music. Always GEazy lol
**What things would YOU like to talk about or share with us?! WE want to hear from YOU!!
I just want to say how thankful I am to have this place to go and get away when life just feels like too much. I'm so thankful I found this place and that there are so many people behind it making it the wonderful thing that it is :)
@AbejaReina
What a wonderful check-in!... Sounds pretty positive for the most part! Sounds like you really enjoy your writing and that is something really great for you to keep focus on.... Even if it doesn't make you much money at the moment, you never know where things can lead.... and whats more important is that as you stated, its giving you something to do!... So you have something to place your focus in, and a "purpose"! And thats always a good thing to feel!....
Continue to keep up the great work that you are doing, and please continue to check back and let us know how things are going with you! Thanks for checking in!
