Do you like to look at shooting stars ?

One of the nicest pastimes is to look at some events nature offers us !
Sunrises, sunsets, the moon and shooting stars can be part of the beautiful moments we all can enjoy! Having time to observe them is a good chance, like it is for a hobby we like.
These days it's possible to admire shooting stars more than usual and for those in US here it is a link about that : here
And now a clarification :
What is a shooting star?
Shooting stars look like stars that quickly shoot across the sky, but they are not stars. A shooting star is really a small piece of rock or dust that hits Earth's atmosphere from space. It moves so fast that it heats up and glows as it moves through the atmosphere. Shooting stars are actually what astronomers call meteors. Most meteors burn up in the atmosphere before they reach the ground. However, once in a while a meteor is large enough than some of it survives and reaches Earth's surface. Then it is called a meteorite.
Enjoy the night-sky !
I love to look at the night sky! I can't say that I've seen a shooting star, though.
When I was young, we could see myriads of stars, the Milky Way, and a black velvet sky. Now the city has grown so big that the sky only gets gray, and we only see a small portion of what we used to. That also means that our fireflies went away.
I miss all of that.

Hello @BridgetAileen
Thanks for sharing!
Hope you will have occasions to make a trip a bit far from the big city, so that you'll be able to enjoy a sky full of stars !
@BeyondTheInvisible, awwww, thanks!
Maybe on Thanksgiving if we stay late enough at my sister's house and it's not overcast. They live out in the country, and you can see so many stars. We've had a lot of cloudy days lately, so maybe the weather will cooperate. ;)
I really do love to look at shooting stars. Unfortunately, they're not nearly as easy to see as they used to be here where I live. It's grown into such a large metropolitan area that the sky never truly gets black at night. We can't see as many stars as we once could. But the night time sky is always amazing.
No, but I really hope I do. I find sunsets and nights super relaxing for me, when was younger I used to spend summer nights in the balcony because I love the moon and stars - even though it's usually super cloudy at night here, so only sometimes could you see a starry sky. I have an astronomy book (well, it's my dad's - and now it's outdated since was back from the 80's) and it listed dates for commets, shooting star/meteor showers, eclipses.. I used to try and memorize all dates, so I could at least watch something
but I wasn't ever that lucky. Stupid clouds!
@eviesweet
Hi Evie!!
LOL yeah, with clouds we have no chance to look at the sky!
Interesting your dad's book, so you can have a calendar of astronomical-events
Agreed with the beauty of sunset! I've enjoyed the full-moon these past days, did you see it?
The particularity of this time of the year is that I can look at the moon also at early morning, since the sunrise happens later, so if I miss it at night, I can enjoy it at early morning ![]()
I love looking and the stars, especially shooting stars.
but i also feel kind of bad for them because they are fall from above and we watch them with smiles on our faces, admiring their beauty, while they spend the last few minutes or even seconds of their life falling -beautiful but dying.
