Showing up imperfectly in collaboration
Hi everyone, I have been thinking about the ‘Collaborating’ dimension. I am working on participating more in group discussions and working with others. I admit that it has not always been a strong point of mine, but I would like to grow in this dimension. I would like to put myself on there and become a part of discussions with others, hold space for differences and learn more about myself and others through this. I would like to face the self-conscious aspect that comes up and lean into showing up imperfectly in the space to be supportive and contribute.
What has helped you feel less self-conscious when interacting with others in a group?
What have you come to learn through collaborating more with others?

I have participated in chat rooms here.
I've pushed myself to open up more.
Understand different viewpoints.
Welcome everyone.
Be inclusive of everyone.
And not get involved in cliquish behavior in the chatrooms 🥰
@Amanda84Hi Amanda, thank you so much for your response. There is a lot you can be proud of in all you shared and it was great just reading how you show up in this space. I am inspired! <3

For me, i used to be feel very nervous speaking up in groups of people i was not close to. But over time, the thing that really made me get more comfortable with it was just forcing myself to say something. I told myself that even if they don't like what I say or I dont get the response I was expecting, its not the end of the world. I will just use it as an opportunity to learn. It doesnt mean that I am no good or not worthy of being heard. The more I did it, the more I realized that people are actually nicer than I thought they were hehe
@HeartyAlly Great post!! In university I had to collaborate a lot with other students and I've slowly grown more confident as I've realized that usually we are all equally lost and that any idea is better than just staying quiet. I think I've become less self-conscious through practice and repetition, the most you try, the most likely you are to succeed
