Facial Recognition Discussion Post
Tw: Deep thoughts. Open Discussion, Questions, Facial expressions
Now that the trigger warning is out of the way, my name is InsightfulPhoenix/Phoe, I would like to take the time to discuss the topic Facial Recognition with you all. No this not about a smartphones capability to register your face and unlock the phone. This discussion primarily focuses on the section 5 Acting ( creativity).
The reason reason why this discussion relies to heavily on this section is because it takes a lot of creative facial expressions to show different emotions to those around you so they can better understand when to approach you or when not to approach you. Any emotion you display is creative act of acting out your emotionally expressions for better understanding, especially since the outside can not see what is within.
It is hard enough to explain the internal thoughts, so why not make the facial expression for a more clear understanding. Those that have known you for awhile will immediately understand and back away for a moment. Now understand those that do not know you will of course ask questions and want to understand right in the moment, and that is where facial expressions come into place.
You ever once sat there and looked at some saying absolutely nothing, but continued to make the face you were making an the person backed off gracefully? That is a perfect example of facial recognition and facial expression. Little short story without getting too much into it, I had a moment where I was super upset, my fiancée kept asking me more than question without giving me a chance to explain or say anything. I gave my fiancée the facial expression of frustration, and he immediately placed it with the facial recognition of frustration, he gave me space.
In my little short story, notice how the person on the outside places the facial expression with the feeling, it is all in the way you act out the inner feeling and display it to the outside.
Questions:

3. How do you feel after reading this?
@InsightfulPhoenix
1. What are your thoughts of Facial Recognition and Facial expressions? Are they useful, why or why not? This is completely individual some people have very expressive faces and body language and OTHERS do not or are a hard read..... some may assume a facial expression is anger/ upset / unhappy and it is not correct..... and this person is wondering why people are not engaging with them or why do they not know it is time to back off ? Also i have noticed many people are not skilled at reading or expressing the correct expression and misreads often happen
2. When was the last time someone noticed your facial expression and used facial recognition with you? my partner often misreads concentration as disapproval or frustration ..... as i am not always aware of the face i may be making ...... this is caused me into having to try harder at work or out in public to put a more approachable face on.........
@toughTiger6481 I can definitely relate to both of your views on both questions, Sometimes people have not mastered such thing, because of their own inner personal emotions and are working through those, or they associate it with a familiar facial expression someone used to do around them from previous. As for your partner, I also heavily relate because I could be calm and my face gives off monotone or disinterested, which neither is true or intentional
