Inner Dependence vs Independence
Tw: healing, deep discussions, questions, mentions of trauma
Good Morning Everyone! It's InsightfulPhoenix or Phoe with another deep discussion, this morning I would like to talk about the Inner Dependence vs Independence , this topic will mainly take place in all sections of 1 and all sections of 5. Inner Dependence is when you are self reliant only yourself, and never want to ask for any help due to the trauma that was created within for asking for it in the first place. Which is sad because every now and then as humans we do need the help, and no one should ever count on just themselves to get things done. Independence in when you are self reliant, but you also know your limits and when to ask for help. Now being Independent can also cause hyper independence, which is also created from childhood trauma of being placed with adult problems at a young age.
However, when you go through the healing process and take time to recognize not only your levels of Inner Dependence and Independence you will the magic within yourself, and the others' around you will also notice it as well. Society always has an image of what the perfect look of inner dependence and independence looks like. Which is far from true, we all have our versions of what this looks like because it is solely based on who we are as individuals. Another thing to note is that even when in relationships, marriages as well or even with friends you can notice when someone's Inner Dependence is higher then their Independence or vs versa. Which is normal, it takes time to balance that out so if you are higher in one area than the other, do not critique yourself where you are currently is where you are meant to be in the very moment.
Always take the time you need to change for you, and always take notice how when you do these changes your crowds will change as well, because they are matching your needs/wants within that time. Remember to always practice the self-care and self-love you are needing because it is very important. No one is more important than yourself. An let those that care for you help you out, even if you feel "silly" for asking, because with their help you can also learn from the situations of what your level of independence is by just asking. It's normal to feel out of place when asking for help as well, and that is okay take your time reaching out too!
Questions:
1. What is your definition of Inner Dependence and Independence?
2. What does Inner dependence look like for you? An why does it look like this?
3. What does Independence look like for you? An why does it look like this?
4. How do you feel after reading this?
@InsightfulPhoenix
I had not heard of inner dependence before but that is a good way of putting it. I think independence is surely a more secure way of existing than just inner dependence.
However a term I learned about a few years ago is 'Interdependence' If I Recall correctly, it was mentioned in the 7 habits of highly effective people.
Interdepence refers to 'the relationship between two or more parties that depend on each other for survival.' Because human beings are social beings, its not really possible to be entirely independant so perhaps the term interdepence is a better way of describing our relationships with fellow humans.
Yes yes interdependence does coincide, however this is solely digging deep into overly self reliant nature we have as humans tend to have from trauma so I called it "inner dependence" instead, because inner dependence/self reliance is never really seen as something brought out of us from a traumatic experience, which also brings out the hyper independence and hyper vigilance! Thank you so much for giving me some informative things as well💖
