Good morning everyone, I hope you had a wonderful weekend! Cinco De Mayo was yesterday so to those that did celebrate, happy belated Cinco De Mayo! I know it has been a while since I have had a deep discussion with questions, so here it goes. This discussion utilizes sections 1, sections 2, sections 4, and section 5.

When you think of letters, does physically writing something down or typing something on a computer come to mind? Once you have that thought hold it for a moment, what if I told you that the letters that I am speaking of are the mental dialogue that is created after stressful or rough events that create emotional responses to what you wanted to say, should have said, or thought of saying. Now that you are thinking of it in this new way and context, it has stopped you in your tracks with a " now wait a minute" look on your face. This is normal and very valid because not many take the time to see a deeper aspect of how our thoughts, emotions, and mental run to this degree.

Now circling back to the same question letters, what does the heading of this discussion make you think of? Did it make you pause for a moment and say, "Why are we discussing letters in a filing cabinet?" or " Why are you storing the letters in an empty filing cabinet to begin with?" Either internal thought process is also okay because each is just as valid as any other internal thought. What if I said that what we are talking about is each time you self-regulate you are putting that internal dialogue into another part of your brain?

When we are upset my situations or even rough moments all of the things we could have said, should have said, or thought of saying become an internal dialogue. Usually, after some time the feeling and the inner monologue go away because you are in a calm state of mind. Hence the terminology. Sometimes using terminology like this can be quite beneficial because it expands our thoughts and minds to a deeper much wider perspective.

Questions:

1. How do you feel after reading this?

2. Do you feel that self-regulation is helpful for moments like this? Why or why not?

3. Name one time that you may have used this process without knowing that you were.

@InsightfulPhoenix

This is an interesting perspective. I am not able to fully follow but a thought provoking discussion nevertheless
