Accepting Our Insecurities 😶🌫
Hi everyone! It's me, Luminity ✨.
We all have something we feel insecure about. Be it our appearance🪞, our health❤🩹, our family background👨👩👧👦, our thoughts💭, anything.
Today, let's take a collective initiative to work towards accepting our insecurity, by identifying it.
Let's make a case file 📁 for our insecurity. Here are some questions you can consider.
•What is/was your biggest insecurity?
•How did you develop it?
•How does it make you feel?
•Did you ever overcome it, or plan to in the future? If so, how?

Example (my case file)-
📁Insecurity #001
•Body weight
•During the COVID-19 lockdown period, I gained a lot of weight due to long sitting hours and reduced physical activity. I kept gaining weight since then and it shows no sign of stopping even now. I weigh a lot right now, and I feel really insecure because of it.
•I struggle with my body image and face low self confidence. I am always hypervigilant about my looks whenever I'm in a public place.
•I have not yet overcome it, and I hope to take action in the near future to bring my weight down to a normal healthy level.

Wow, powerful question.
My biggest insecurity used to be when travelling, I didn't like to wear a bikini or a swimsuit to the beach or go into the water, because I have massive scars on my back after an operation. It took time to embrace them and accept them as part of me, but it can be hard in a world celebrated for perfection rather than imperfections 💚

I transferred to a school where most of the students came from relatively affluent backgrounds. Everyone spoke fluent English and discussed topics I had never even heard of. Coming from a not-so-good school, I developed impostor syndrome and constantly felt out of place. I struggled to fit in, scored poorly, and even failed a few tests. There was hardly anyone who didn't bully or mock me for my grades, the color of my school bag, or my not-so-enticing lunchbox. They laughed at me, shamed me, pulled my hair, among other things.
A few years down the line, I was able to overcome it by putting in consistent effort. I campaigned in the school elections, represented my school in several competitions, secured meritorious grades, and even topped the school.
Today, I wouldn't say I've fully overcome those insecurities, but I would never wish that experience on my worst enemy. It was, without a doubt, a form of childhood trauma.

I'm sorry you ever had to experience this
Bullying is the worst.
And people who haven't experienced it, just don't get it.
They say it'll pass or get over it, don't be so sensitive or worse, I never got bullied, implying it's your fault 😔
But none of it was your fault.
You came through and got great grades because you are an intelligent, gifted, well rounded, kind individual and anyone who didn't see this then massively missed out 💙
@Amanda84
Thank you, Amanda. I appreciate your kindness and support. I still get flashbacks to those days. It was incredibly difficult having to be around those people every single day, but those experiences have stayed with me and shaped who I am today.

💛
Yes, its sad that difficult and traumatic times make us into stronger people, but I'm glad you are you and whenever these flashbacks occur, promise me, you'll remember, these clowns were wrong 💙
@Amanda84
I will ❤️

Thanks a lot for sharing. It takes courage to be able to share so much. I have faced bullying in middle school and I know it affects you in a different type of way. I'm sorry you ahd to go through this. But I'm really happy you made an amazing come back 💖❤🩹
@Luminity125
I'm sorry you had to go through that. Thank you for providing me and others a safe space.
@Luminity125
I think we are kind of the opposite here. I dont know if this is my BIGGEST. insecurity but it is one.
I m skinny although normal weight I m a bit tall and I find my legs skinny and I dont like wearing tight stuff such as leggings becsuse of this. I dont even know if it makes sense.
@cheerfulKiwi1776
It does make sense, Kiwi. Not feeling good about your body is really common, and it's not the same for everyone. Your insecurity is valid too, bestie🫂💖
@Luminity125
Thank you so much✨️💜🫂
I have a lot of insecurities. I don't normally share them. They've been used against me before. So I'm sort of insecure about my insecurities 😅
But I guess my biggest one is being insecure about my intelligence. I was often told I was stupid growing up. It takes me time to figure things out. When I actually talk to someone it takes me a little time to get the words out and I can see that people get impatient

@mytwistedsoul
???? people making fun of your intelligence?
this was unbelievable soul
not biased just because you’re my closest friend here but genuinely saying that your one of the most intelligent people I’ve come across
you know to support people, to say things that’ll make them feel better, you know to do the right thing when it’s needed, you stand up for right, for your friends, you share your feelings and your story even if it’s difficult on you .. you do soo much here and offline for many people and animals … you luv animals and are luvvedd back by them… that’s one of highest form of intelligence I think
you treat people better than you have been treated
idk but I think dealing with someone in their sad time is the highest form of intelligence there can be .. not only EQ but overall … and you do that flawlessly 💕💕
you’re not what those people made you think for yourself ok .. your so much better, wiser and amazing than they’ll ever be

Insecurity #1
- Mine is my hair and skin; I have quite bad stress from my MSc and it affects my skin plus the hard water in London damages my hair. It's really annoying
Insecurity #2
- Body weight; I'm not as athletic as my peak period and I sad because I feel like I have lost muscle tone and my perky butt :( which I worked out so hard for !!!!!
Insecurity #3
-Dress style; since the economic is not doing well for everyone, I used to buy more clothes as a self treat to help with my stress but it's been hard since I lost my part-time job
@Luminity125
I would say that my biggest insecurity is feeling like i am not good enough at what i do, and that i will never be good enough.
@Starwarsfan1234
Relatable. Offers safe hugs! 🫂
This is a hard question for me to answer bc I've never really talked about this before. I have a few insecurities actually. I think the biggest one is body image, I've never really liked how I look. It's just basically everything about myself I'm insecure about, whether it's my face, hair, the way I dress, etc. I've tried to do things to make myself feel more confident in myself, like changing the way I dress or doing other things. It's hard to change though bc people have made fun of me before in the past for trying smth new. Somedays I can't stand looking at myself in the mirror, other times I'll just avoid it all together.
Another insecurity is just that I'm really shy and introverted. Most people, especially my parents have never accepted that for me. They get mad at me when I can't just go up and talk to someone or when I can't make friends as easily. They think that things that are easy for them are easy for me as well when it's not. They have never just accepted me for who I am, I've had to change so much to fill their expectations.
@IzzyGamer
Thank you so much for sharing. I understand it is hard to talk about our insecuritues.
I can completely relate to the body image struggle, I have been through and going through it myself.
I can relate to being looked down at for being introverted too. I hear you, I have felt that way very often. Making friends is still a struggle. Changing to fulfil someone's expectations is really difficult. Hope it turns out well for you at some point 💖
I am insecure about my age and how I don't have a PhD till now.
@proactiveDog9174
I'm sorry about that. Every individual has a different timeline, and the only way to make peace with it is by embracing 'growing up'. I can relate to how you're feeling. 🫂
I am insecure about my age. That I am too old for this and anything next I choose too do. I will never be the right age again and I feel like a loser.
