One of the most important parts about a team is for their to be diversity within it. Everyone has a different lived experience, and individual differences are often highlighted msot when their is diverse voices contributing to meaningful experiences. I would not be able to contribute in the most effective way as other people when it comes to certain things. When you have a diverse team you are able to allow people with the same lived experience to contribute and share stories which brings individuals together in my opinion alot better. It is also crucial in applying techniques to situations. Every opinion is valid and each holds incredible weight, therefore when you brainstorm each person can have a contribution that another person may not have thought of.

I think the most important thing in being diligent and respectful to different cultures on 7cups is to understand that culture is a way of life. We do not need to agree with someone's culture but we do need to respect their own life decisions and the ways in which they are choosing to live their own life. We can embrace this respect by acting in a way that comes off non-judgemental and appreciative of everyone and their own experiences.

There are many advantages of a diverse team such as being able to cover multiple timezones. Also having a diverse team means that should members what to converse with someone who understands their culture they can request this meaning we can facilitate for this.

Respect of differing cultures is imperative when offering support to individuals on the platform. This can be in basic regard such as time zones but also in more fundamental aspects such as different pressures, experiences and understandings of things.

How to Be Respectful of Different Cultures on 7 Cups:

Avoid Stereotypes: Be mindful of generalizations about cultures and individuals. Treat each person as an individual with their own unique experiences.

Ask Clarifying Questions: If I'm unsure about something, ask for clarification in a respectful and non-judgmental way.

Acknowledge and Apologize for Mistakes: if I make a mistake, acknowledge it, apologize sincerely, and learn from the experience.

We can respectful by being opened minded to their different cultures and respecting what they value or what their culture rules are. Not being a stereotype nor judgmental of their cultures views. Being support and positive towards them and their cultures.

When there are members facing difficulties, those who have experience with similar challenges in their past can help overcome those obstacles. This support is mutual—those who help may also be helped in return.
