@Hope

I really want to change mine, it's actually been bothering me lol, gotta love anxiety.

I would prefer to discuss the idea of the American Experiment and how if we don't find a way to talk to our fellow citizens due to their political beliefs (real/imagined/conspiracy psychobabble...it doesn't really matter, except obviously it does in every example except real but it matters in a way that could be ignored albeit with some effort for the sake of the country). Communication is the only way we're going to be able to move forward together, specifically communicating with people who have opposing beliefs and views to your own. We may never agree with each other, but that's OK because hopefully we could agree to disagree and focus on what we have similar views on, assuming there is any overlap. More importantly, we would understand each other better. Explaining why we think...and disagree with...to someone that agrees with the...that u disagree with and disagrees with the...that u agree with is important because once we understand the reasons perhaps we could be a bit more civil or even better 🤞friendly to each other. Red, blue, purple...it's irrelevant what "color" state u live in (at least for the purpose of my explanation, it's very important with regard to a women's right to choose what to do with her body, learning something educational at school or about creationism rather than the big bang, whether certain books are available or banned, whether creepy governors want access to women's menstrual cycle and if girls can play sports in high school without having to disclose the information, etc). The colors are assigned based on politics, and politics sort of helped break things, I don't think it's necessarily capable of fixing them. We are, though. And we HAVE to, I know that some Americans have never heard the phrase the American Experiment, but it's what the founding father's considered our country, which they created, to be. I don't think anyone truly understands what the alternative is, but I promise it's not something we should be aspiring to (certain countries around the world are potential examples and they aren't countries where everyone is free or remotely equal or all that happy but trapped and therefore they have to go along with whatever the government suddenly decides to implement regardless of their own beliefs and views).

I understand politics are divisive and the last couple election cycles have in some cases caused possible irreparable damage to families, marriages, friendships, pretty much any type of relationship because of disagreement on who they were planning to vote for. That's not ok, especially because if we divorce our spouse because of who they voted for, talking to strangers with opposing views is seemingly not possible.

I understand what it's like to be soo baffled and upset at someone u love tremendously, who's been there for u ur entire life and never gave any indication of what was to come. I was upset, felt betrayed, confused, furious, and curious about why. I asked and essentially it falls under the conspiracy psychobabble I menu earlier courtesy of fox News, and we got into arguments because I didn't feel the same and voted differently...I was informed that I had never caused such extreme and profound disappointment and needed to reevaluate my life and priorities because I didn't agree with January 6, 2021.

I have tried to avoid politics during my conversations with this person, but she brings it up all the time almost as an excuse to yell at me, at least that's how it seems considering that's the result every time. I love her, she's old, I'm not capable of changing her mind so I'm not going to waste the energy. I will continue to attempt to avoid the topic, she's my dad's sister, the only living relative I have left. Politics isn't destroying that.

I sometimes think a nationwide counseling session is what we need (I'm not entirely serious). But rather than let an election destroy ur marriage, family, friendship, etc it might be a good idea to remember that u were fine pre-election so perhaps therapy together would be worth it rather than losing an important relationship.

Bottom line, history truly does have a habit of repeating itself until we finally learn from it. We should start now because I actually do know our countries history and I don't want the parts likely to repeat to do so. Civil War being the extreme and the ultimate experiment is officially over sign.

Please, let's all be a bit more understanding (pretend if u have to) and compassionate to our fellow citizens, regardless of what they believe. It's not just about us, think about what the impact around the world could potentially be including the stock market. National security is another great reason.
