Dinner With Our Alumni: DonaldDraper
Hello all! I am excited to announce that I will be starting a new series called 'Dinner With Our Alumni' where I will do a small interview with our leaders who graduated the Leadership Development Program. The aim is to spread more awareness about the program and hopefully everyone gives it a read!
Our very first LDP graduate for this dinner is: @DonaldDraper
DonaldDraper has been a listener here for the past almost 6 years. They have been a great contribution to the Healthy Living team, the Pop-Up Discussion team, as well as numerous other roles! You have probably seen them in LCR hosting some really cool games
What was on the menu? Some eggplant and some flatbread!
Here's what they had to say:
What made you join the LDP?
Initially I joined it for the green ticks on the trainings page.
How was your experience doing the coursework?
It was good overall. Learned about myself and leadership on 7 Cups and in general.
Did you find it easy to navigate through the forums for each course?
Not initially, but once the masterposts were made for the courses, it became easier.
How did you dedicate your time to doing the coursework?
I dedicated about 1 hr per week maybe. It was manageable.
Which course did you like the most? And why?
Community builder course. I found it interesting and practical.
How are you liking the role you got into for the LDP?
I tried applying what I learned through LDP into the very next leadership role I took after LDP as the Popup Project Agent. It's being going well and there are new additions to it too.
If you had to give one tip to the current trainees, what would that be?
If you find it overwhelming, sure, take a break. Reach out to a mentor or a teaching assistant. I am thankful to @positivepumpkin22 who reached out to me while I had almost stopped following LDP.
What can we do to make the program better?
I think it's been going well. But yes, weekly group meetups for QnA, updates, sharing experience, etc can be helpful (if not already being done).
Thank you for reading till here! I would love to hear any suggestions/question ideas that I can add to this series. If you are an LDP graduate and would love to contribute, please PM me so we can set up our dinner! Meanwhile, please give a big shout-out to @DonaldDraper for doing this!
