Dinner With Our Alumni: kdsyahirah

Hello everyone! I am here yet again with another Dinner With Our Alumni interview! This time, it's with a dear member! For those that are new, Dinner With Our Alumni is a series of short interviews with Leadership Development Program (LDP) alumni. These help us reflect upon the program and help our current trainees as well as spread awareness about the program! If you like them, do share!

For this week, we have @kdsyahirah! They like to go by the name Sya, and are 17 years old. They have been on here since December 2019 but started being active on this website in 2020. They came here struggling with personal problems but feel as though they have been helped on here more than they'd expected. They like writing and pretty much anything that can let their imagination soar.

What was on the menu? An array of sugary treats! Waffles, ice cream, and chocolate! With some tropical and refreshing drinks.

What made you join the LDP?

I joined LDP because I bet it'll be a great experience for me since I have nothing to do at home at that time. It'll be good to have something to fill my time with since I was not so occupied with studies etc.

How was your experience doing the coursework?

At first thought, It seemed like a lot of work needed to be done but I enjoyed them wholeheartedly. Some of it was materials and some of it was videos and I love both of them. It's fun and educational.

Did you find it easy to navigate through the forums for each course?

At first, I always relied on the materials given in my emails. I'm not used to asking people for help so I just rely on the given links. After a while, I knew how to navigate the course and the forums easily.

How did you dedicate your time to doing the coursework?

Once I'd decided to work on my coursework, I'll try to finish as much as I could. Sometimes I was busy and had other things in mind. I'm not someone who loves to do something on schedule or repeatedly so every time I'd decide to do the coursework, I'll finish my work as much as I could.

Which course did you like the most? And why?

Personally, I like course 5 because I learn more about 7 Cups and details about it. I learned a lot. The most educational course I've been in Course 2. Course 2 taught me everything that I never thought I should know about and I'm amazed. Overall, all the courses are *thumbs up*

What role did you get into after the program? How are you liking the role you got into for the LDP?

I became a Forum Supporter. So far, I love my role and enjoy it so much.

If you had to give one tip to the current trainees, what would that be?

Finish your coursework at your own pace. You don't need to rush but remember to always manage your time to finish your tasks and coursework. Both are important for graduates. Plus the progress report too hehe!

What can we do to make the program better?

Maybe make an additional list of coursework for the trainees as well because trainees, like I am who's a bit forgetful, tend to forget all of the coursework and tasks that they have done. If the coursework and tasks are done, then they'll be ticked by the trainee. They could review their list again if they have forgotten.
